Did you try spraying the door latch and locks with WD 40? I did on my ford expo. I sprayed each and every door, including the hatchback. Then, I opened and closed them several times. Found out the driver rear door was sticking due to dirt.

Go to each door and open it with the others closed. unplug each sensor til the light goes off. oh and dont forget the rear hatch. whichever one shuts it off that it is the bad sensor

I had the same problem. WD40 cured this in a flash! Be generous with the WD40 to allow parts to loosen and clean the "gue" that has built-up over the years. Several open and closings of the door should do the trick. Note that cold weather exasperates this condition. The best to you all in the new year!

I had this problem on my 2003 explorer and took WD40 and gave the lock mechanism a good dose where it meets the clasp on the door jam. Then open and close the doors a couple of times to get them working. They get gummed up and sometimes have a tendency to stick.

go to your local parts store and buy a can of PB BLASTER lubricant then open each door and spray the latch assembley really good then close and open the door 10 to 15 times. do this with each door. the door ajar light switch is located in the door latch assembley and cannot be seen so soak the latch assembleys really good so lube reaches the switch. these switches sometimes get stuck but this usually frees up the switch
