I have a 2001 Mercedes C240. When the engine is running with car stopped you can feel a bit of trembling. It also cuts off during driving and at slow speeds only. Like when I will the foot off the pedal crossing roundabouts or stopping at the traffic lights. I had the car checked using the computer and it came up with pedal sensor fault which I have replaced with a brand new one but the problem went away for about 5 days and is now back again. Whenever it stops I have to turn the engine off and back on and it is fine. It also does not cut off if I keep the engine at high revs.

put a can of STP oil additive into the engine if this doesnt work put another one in,if still no joy try changing the oil pump.if you dont want to change the oil pump then put 3 cans of STP in engine and sell it quick

check for fuel pump operation.have someone turn ignition on while you go to rear of car where fuel tank is to listen for fuel pump operation.if not.check fuse and relay.if you hear fuel pump .check ignition system to make sure engine is getting spark.

I had a similar problem with my 1986 300e , which got progressively worse until the car was no longer driveable, I changed out the fuel pump relay and the problem went away.
