Need some recommendations on a repair I am working on: 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, 2 wheel drive, automatic transmission, 45,000 miles 1. The rear windows do not operate. 2. The Cabrio roof does not register being latched when closed. 3. Already looked at resetting front latch mechanism. Also looked at the soft top control unit; rec'd no codes from this. What tells the control unit that the front is latched? Is it a microswitch in the latch mechanism or a pot? Thank you! TS100

SOURCE: Hi,

no major issues to my knowledge. the carerra always reminded me of a highly modified v.w. with only 34.000 miles that car is just broke in. but, before you lay down 29gs. take it for a test run over to a reputable mechanic. to have checked out. if given a clean bill of health. go for it. just give it regular maintain. and you should be good to go for another few hundred thow miles or so..good day

1999 Porsche Carrera 1. Code 1539 (engine light is on) 2. Code 59 (Airbag light is on) what are the problems and fixes for these two things? Thanks

code 1539 is a bad camshaft actuator on bank 2: $~$2700 repair
code 59 is either a bad seatbelt receptacle or wireharness grounding problem: ~$800 repair

I had both of these problems on my '99 carrera

I am looking at a 2001 base 911. Can you tell me what the scheduled maintainance intervals are and what they entail. The car has 45,000 miles

To stay true to the Porsche value of ownership, you should take the car into a dealership as they electronically input data into their system and a pump is required to do oil changes since their is oil in lines traveling to the cooler at the front of the car. One mistake and you are out an engine.

Cost of rear plastic window on 1999 911 cabriolet

Most auto upholstery shops can fix this - mine cost about $600 for a tinted plastic. Clear plastic was the same cost. I had mine done in Costa Mesa, CA
