Okay What it means is that the oil in your car is either low in level or the oil pressure at low revolutions is low. I highly recommend you to stop driving the car when this happen because you can internally damage the engine with a low oil or a low pressure of oil. Check the oil level first..make sure level is fine and oil looks good. Black and burned oil will give you a low oil pressure as well. If it happen that your car need a oil change. Make sure you get it done and see if the problem goes away. Very rarely oils pressure sensor goes bad but if oil is new and level is fine you can take the oil pressure sensor and connect a tester for a oil pressure. If this is not under the manufacturer specifications.. oil pump is worn out and you have to replace it for a new one.
Good luck and don't forget to rte me. Thanks
Best guess with the information provided is restricted flow of the catalytic convertors. At higher speed the rpm's stay consistant. If the cats are not allowing the exhuast to push thru unrestricted the engine will know its labored but not why.
There is less oil distributed to the engine in idle position than when you drive. So when the oil light comes on, you may have to put a little oil in your car. While driving, the oil reading may be enough for your sensors in your car to not send a signal, but when you stop and the oil pressure goes down, it may not be enough and that's when the light comes on. When you drive 20 to 30 minutes, your oil gets thinner because it is warm. That also will send a different reading to the sensors. You may want to try a thicker oil (instead of 10/40 try 5/20 ... ask before you do this!).
The Trailblazer doesn't have an actual oil pressure sensor, it's only a switch that closes at about 12 to 17 PSI and the computer makes up a number to drive the gauge. If you know you have a full level of oil, there is no reason you can't drive to have a mechanic check things out.
Check and verify that your oil level is full on your engine oil dipstick, if its low add oil until its in the safe area of the dipstick, if your oil is full and your still having this problem, the problem is most likely a faulty oil pressure switch, replace the switch and your oil light problem should be fixed...
Well, if you say that when he stops the car, but the engine still running (idling) - that "stop engine oil" light comes on, it could mean that the oil pump can no longer maintain the minimum oil pressure to the critical areas of the motor at an idle.
If the light goes out with a higher idle (driving the car) that is a good indication of a worn out motor. be sure the oil is at the full mark, not below or above the full mark. Make sure the oil and filter are new. The sender units for the oil lights rarely go out - but it is possible.
SOUNDS LIKE A FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SWITCH..LOCATED NEAR OIL FILTER..UNPLUG IT,CHECK FOR OIL IN CONNECTOR,IF SO..REPLACE IT..FAIRLY INEXPENSIVE AND EASY TO DO..STILL MAY BE FAULTY EVEN WITH NO OIL PRESENT IN CONNECTOR..I HOPE THIS HELPS
Sounds like a problem with a weak sensor and the computer. You need to
get your mechanic to code the car as to rule out any problems with the
computer or the sensors. Your car is about the right year for those
sensors to start getting weak. When the computer reads those sensors
that then sets things. So if the sensor is getting weak, it would not
be reading things right so your car would be not running so good. I
would be looking at the Throttle Position Sensor. If after coding the
car and nothing show up there. I would be checking for a vacuum leak
they will often cause this problem. And one more thing when is the last
time you did a good tune up on the car? Stark plugs, wires, distributor
cap and rotor? Air filter might be something to look into too. I hope
this helps and good luck!
I had the same problem with my 2003 Lancer OZ. The oil level and pressure were ok. Car was fine with no light when starting. After 10 to 15 mins of driving it would come on when I was stopped. It would go away when I pressed accelerator. Try replacing the Oil Sending Unit. It's about $10 and easy to swap. That was my problem.
