While you should regularly change filters (air, fuel, cabin) a "tune up" should be done at 100k. Today a tune up only consist of replacing spark plugs, wires (if applicable), PCV valve and filters. Replace the plugs and wires with OEM parts. The price difference is marginal and it's not worth chancing it with aftermarket parts. I've seen some driveability issues caused by non oem plugs and it's not fun doing a job twice.

What kinda tune up can i do to improve gas milage

Hi Richard:
If there is a lot of pitting or corrosion visible, it would not hurt.
Replacing the spark plugs and air filter would help.
Changing engine oil and oil filter may not help with milage but it will make the engine last longer.
Increasing tire air pressure to the maximum rated for the tires will usually result in better milage but may actually increase tire wear rate.
Cheers

2006 Aveo has low fuel economy. Changed out thermostat because it was not keeping temp at acceleration. Now the temp is stable, but still seems low at 180 F and still have bad gas mileage. No check engine...

Many things can contribute to low fuel economy, tire pressure, driving style, milage, and state of the servicing.
What sort of milage does the car have?
Has it had a tune up recently?
Air filter condition?
Fuel filter condition?
Transmission service if milage dictates?

Change major tune up parts ba gas milage ,will changing the fuel pump and changing out the gas tank help. 245,000

A Tune-up is a poorly used word

Spark Plugs are the only part that restores
your engine to where it was designed

ALL Tuning has been done by the On-Board-
Computer since 1981 on GM & 1983 for Ford & Chry
(OBD1) (OBD2 1996 thru 2011)

There is no major tune-up vs something else

You only replace a Fuel Pump when it fails

Check engine light on; Gas milage went from 19 to 15, emission ba

YES!!, you had it tuned, it runs good, but gas mileage dropped, and check engine light is on,it sounds like the o2 sensors are slow or even dead, i would replace them for sure and that just might solve all your problems, good luck, hope this helps.

Maint required light flashing 10 times when I start a car 2000 acura rl 181000 miles I had a tune-up & oil change 1 month ago, car runs perfect

These happens every "scheduled maintenance" milage. Pretty soon it will come on and stay on.

On a 1999, if you hold in the milage reset buttons and turn on the key to 2nd position, the maintenance light will go out.
