This is an easy repair in theory for the home mechanic. But you need that big 36 mm Socket and I recommend an air impact gun to remove that. Also you have to get that bottom ball joint off disconnected, which again is easy for someone who has done it a few times. It may challenge someone without any patience. The axle shaft doesn't need to be removed, just cut the boot off the joint and then remove the "C" clip that holds the axle to the joint. About a 2 hour job

I bought a 2000 RL used, with some factory warranty remaining, and then bought an extended warranty. While hnder warranty, car began to smell up my garage from fumes from oil dripping onto hot exhaust. Not enough oil at that point to show up on garage floor. Complained to dealer about the odor but Acura Master Mechanic (said he) couldn't find source of odor (although I told him I suspected an oil leak because I had prior experience with oil leaks and resultant smells on another car). On the next service visit after the extended warranty expired, same master mechanic said my RL's rear main oil seal was leaking onto exhaust causing odor. And the dealer wanted north of $1000 to fix it. I declined. Leak has steadily gotten worse - now visible drops on garage floor. An independent repair shop quoted $650 plus the cost of replacing expensive, special Honda transmission fluid. Took my complaint all the way up the chain to the head of Honda in Japan, but got no assistance. No more Honda products for me.

Could be a few things. The mass airflow sensor could be dirty or faulty. Once you shut off and start again it returns to factory specs and will run for a little while before same thing happens. Could be a bad fuel pump. When they are going bad they overheat and shut down. Once they are cool, the pump works for a while till the same scenario occurs. Do you have a check engine light? If so, what are the codes?

I am not aware of any Acura's that have more than 1 knock sensor. Do you mean oxygen sensor? The #1 bank is the rear 1, closest to the firewall.

Usually when the service engine light comes on 95% of the time its an O2 sensor

try a fuel additive that will clean engine as it is being driven ask advice from the retailer you use as to which additive would be best as there are a range to choose from

It may be due to the starter solenoid having burnt electrical contacts. If this is the case when it doesn't start all you will hear is a loud click under the hood.
