I need to know the name of a part.

Someone stole my stereo out of my car (2001 cavalier, 2 door coupe)and broke the piece of the dash that covers the instrument panel, stereo, and AC/Heat controls. I need to know what that is called so I can look up prices on getting a new one.

I call it a dash trim face but there is likely a technical name for it. Just go to the dealer and tell the parts guy what you need and he wont have a problem understanding. Show him the broken one if you need to. Likely you can get one cheaper in a scrap yard.

Trying to replace the cracked plastic piece between the dash and the windshield.

Hello,
The piece you are referring to is approx 5" wide strip rt at windshield? most likely cracked in the center. This piece is part of the whole dash assembly. so to replace it you would need to remove the complete dash.
Now, I have found an alternative for this problem. Coverlay dash covers makes a replacement piece that glues on over top of this piece and it will look like factory. So do a search on coverlay and look on their website it is a easy install. hope this helps

HOW DOES THE FRONT LOWER DASH PANNEL COME OUT , I CANT FIND ANY SCREWS ... I AM TALKING ABOUT THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT COVERS THE RADIO 2000 chevy caalier ls 4 door 2.2 liter [email protected]

Ok, first, you're in for quite a job here - you will have to remove the whole upper portion of the dash and work your way down to get to the section around the radio - if you need further instructions, I can try finding and scanning some I have when I replaced the head unit in my car (2001 coupe 2.2) about 2 years ago

I need to know the distance that the drivers side mirror protrudes from the curvature of the door? and also if the outside drivers mirror is molded plastic into the frame of the car?

The outside mirrors attach to the door frame using 3 nuts that attach to studs that are part of the mirror. You can access the attachments by opening the door and removing the triangular shaped plastic trim piece, removing a piece of foam insulation and then you can see the three nuts to remove.

Remove front dash cover, 2003 cavalier & rep ac control cable

Unfortunately, you can do it, but you will have to remove your entire dash in the process.  It's not really difficult, just time consuming.  You can remove the front dash cover by opening the doors and removing the covers on each side.  They are just clips that hold them on.  Take a flat screwdriver and carefully pry them off. You will then see screws on the side that you will need to unbolt, and I believe there are 2 more screws pointed upwards that you can get to if you open your glovebox.  After those screws are removed, remove the defroster grill in the middle of your dash.  There is just one screw to remove and it unclips.  Now you can pry the entire top part of the dashboard off.  There are more clips holding it on, so just be careful when you do it. After that, you will see a bunch of screws on the top side that you can unbolt and then you will be able to remove the front cover that sits behind your steering wheel. With these pieces out of the way, you can finally unbolt the front cover where your stereo is and get at whatever your trying to get at to fix your defroster/control knob.
I had to go through all this when I installed my aftermarket stereo.
Good Luck!

Removal of factory stereo from 97 cavalier

First remove the vent from the middle of dash up by windshield. It has one philips head screw, then has a clip on each side.

Then you need a 7mm. First there are two screws under were the vent you just took out was. One is longer than the other.

Next take the side covers off each side of the dash, these are the sides of the dash were the door panel meets the dash. I believe there was either one or two screws on each side after the cover is popped out.

Next open the glovebox, there are two gold screws up through a hole in the top of the glovebox, they hold the airbag in. Then there are like four more along the edge of the glovebox were the top of the door would meet the dash.

After all those screws are out then you can take the top dash cover out, but your not done yet.

After the top cover is out you will have like four more screws they go straight down right behind the face of the dash. After they are out the rest is clips and unplug the wires for the lights and lighter. After its free remove it,

Now you can take the two or three screws holding the radio out and pull it out. Now just reverse the whole thing and pray for no extra screws or broken tabs.

It takes more time than it is hard, just don't try and rush it or you'll be calling salvage yards for parts. Hope this helps.
