Where is termostat in hyundai elantra

My car overheats and have to put water almost every day.

If thermostat is bad, you wouldn't go more than a half mile before overheating. Not a bad idea to replace it, but you need to find another cause of your problem...Checked for leaks? are fans coming on?

First try the radiator cap..if it is bad, it will let the water run directly into the reservoir bottle then out on ground. Also take reservoir bottle out and check it for holes, if it has a hole and good cap it will let overflow drain on ground and not be pulled back into the radiator.

It is not likely the thermostat, because the thermostat is showing that it is overheating,so it is working, you must have a coolant leak somewhere. You will have to find coolant leak. Car is overheating because it is low on coolant

Hyundai Elantra 1.6 1997 model overheats after it has no power. What could be the problem ?

Check for water in the oil (gooey foam after running) - blown head gasket. Check for exhaust smelling bubbles in the radiator - blown head gasket. Otherwise heat activated fan switch (on the radiator) is not coming on soon enough or at all. No fan will overheat an engine especially if a lot of stop and go or idling on warm days. Most common is a stuck thermostat, blocking circulation. Other causes are a blocked radiator - shut a warmed engine off and feel the radiator all over - if too cool in some areas, it is possibly getting clogged up inside. If you are getting radiator antifreeze smell inside the car (fogging the windshield when the car starts in cool weather) your heater core is leaking.

I have a 2006 hyundai elantra. It drives fine for a little while, but then it starts to overheat. The weird thing about it is the needle starts to go down right away when i stop. When it started to...

have you got an air lock in the cooling water? this can happen if the water level droped to far, it may just need bleading the air lock out first, look for a hose that is hight up (normaly above the top of rad) with a small plastic cap screw slot in it
fill car up with water,,unscrew cap and run motor till all air is out of coolent water,,, keep topping the water up till your finished bleeding it,,this could be why it never felt hot to tuch,,,and no heater working,,,
its full of air not water,,,,

Termostat

Need to change the termostatic, this will make the car heat up, plus increase your fuel milage, plus check on changing the sending unit under the hood, that send the signal to the gauge.
