SOURCE: Vacuum leak-P0171 2000 Toyota Echo. Need vacuum diagram

A P0171 code does not indicate a vacuum leak; it indicates a dirty mass air flow sensor. This device is located between the air filter box and the intake manifold. Locate it, unplug the wire harness, and remove the 2 screws that holds it onto the intake pipe. Look down inside th sensor, you will see 2 small wires, that are probably covered with fuzzy things...using a spray cleaner, such as brake cleaner, spray the 2 wires until they are clean and shiny. Do NOT use compressed air, that will damage the sensor. When it is clean; reinstall it and drive it. The computer will recognize the now clean sensor, and your troubles will be over.

you could have a vacuum leak somewhere. check the fuel filter, it may be going bad. and battery. all these will cause a random misfire code. as well as your plug wires. intake air leak, spray carb cleaner around intake manifold while engine is running if the idle changes, then you have a leak. Good-day! but check for vacuum leak first! a vacuum leak will cause engine to hesitate and lose power.

I have a 2000 isuzu rodes and there was a vacuum leak which was causeing it not to run it is on the back of the intake the is what looks like a throttle that attaches to a little cilinder with a vacuum...

check for the other end near one of the cylinder heads (the part of the motor above the spark plugs) or possibly on the brake booster. Brake boosters are the big, usually black, drum looking thing close to the firewall. The front of the intake manifold also has vacuum lines sometimes. good luck, if you post with pictures I could try to find the trouble hose. Good Luck!

2002 Isuzu Wizard V6 Petrol engine. Went to start it and it turned over and went to fire up but then just cut out. Tried it again and it started fine?

Hi.

A failed start can happen for a number of reasons. If this happened just once, it should not be reason for concern.

If the problem happens again, the first test you can do to locate the problem is an OBDII code scanning.

The scan can be done at any local garage. If you purchase a scanner like the ones linked below you can read the codes by yourself.

OBD-II-Scan/dp/B001LHVOVK

OBD2-Trouble-Code-Reader-Scanner

The connector is located under the dash.

Once you have the codes you can get back to us for an explanation. Here you can also find basic info on OBD codes.

If the problem happens regularly, then other test that must be done is checking fuel and vacuum pressure using a Vacuum and Fuel Pump Tester. This is a gauge that must be placed in between the lines to read pressure.
By reading fuel pressure it is possible to spot problems caused by blockage, fuel pump malfunction and problems with fuel pump aeration.
By reading pressure on vacuum lines whilst heating the lines with an hand torch (this must be done by a mechanic), you can find vacuum leaks.

Engine shut down can be caused by a number of reasons. Among possible causes misfire, rich or lean mixture, air intake blockage, MAF or AIT sensor problem, fuel circulation problem, vacuum problem, fuel tank cap not allowing air in, electronic injection problems.

If you get the problem again, read codes and replace spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter.

Regards.

Cant get idle speed to come down

your idle speed is controled by the computer on this car. so yo could have a variaty of things going on here. but i am willing to bet you have a leak some were on the intake to see if it is your intake gaskets wich is common on newer cars you can buy a can of brake cleaner and start the car and spray it on the out side of the intake. but be carefull not to get any electronics or the throttel cabel with the cleaner. if your intake gasket is leaking you will hear a drop in the engine Rpm.
