2000 grand cherokee transmission problem

When slowing down just before coming to a complete stop it seems like the tranny is skipping a gear and a makes a thumping noise. This does not happen all the time but only when it wants to.

Transmission shift points are controlled by the vehicle computer. Take your Grand Cherokee to a Jeep/Chrysler dealer to have the computer checked and possibly update the computer firmware.

Hello, I have a 2000 grand prix gt shift into gear and drive fine

Sounds like the filter might be plugging up. I would have it serviced. Do you have a check engine light on? How long do you have to leave the engine off before it will start moving again?

I have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee limited. when you first get in the car and drive it drives fine then all the sudden it will act like it is not in gear. no lights will come up. when i slowed down it...

Check the oil levels in the transmission, if it is low, this will stop the gears engaging, hence not driving at all, this is a safety mechanism on the transmission, DO NOT OVER FILL IT WITH OIL, this will destroy the transmission

2000 jeep cherokee no reverse car was put in park before complete stop

Tranny is going to need some work for sure. Sounds like the gear got stripped out when jammed into park. Sorry, no easy fix for this.

Transmission goes into nuteral when i slow down to make a turn or go down hill, then when i step on gas it jumps into gear.

could be low on fluid!
or clutch bands or weak pump in the tranny
low fluid stops the pump delivering enough pressure to the valve body which activates the pistons within hence wont engage untill you pick up revs & does more damage !
get it serviced ASAP!

I have a problem with my gear box i have a jeep grand cherokee

Your transmission apparently is not downshifting properly. From your description, it sounds as though it is in 2nd or 3rd gear, which is why it is slow to accelerate. When you shift into 1st, it is starting off in 1st gear as it should. You probably should have a transmission shop check it out. Check engine light on?

HI, this is just a pan seal that as failed to do its job due to age or defective nature. Once this faulty pan gasket is changed, the leak will stop.

Transmission not working when hot

well sounds pretty bad, did it start slipping before all of this and gradually get worst? anyways when this happens the cheapest diagnostic fix is pull all of the bolts on the bottom of the tranny to dran all the fluid, not sure if this tranny has a filter but pretty positive it does, pop a new filter in there you will see it when you you drop the pan, let all fluid drain and refill with the specific type of tranny fluid it calls from you can find the quanity and type from the auto store when you get the parts, substitute one of the quarts with lucas stop slip and hopefully it will bring the tranny out of it. otherwise your bands are shot and need a rebuild/tranny replacement. good luck and take care
