2001 pontiac grand prix fuel door is loose and fell off. How do u remove old assembly?

It's fuel pressure regulator .
The fuel pressure regulator attaches to the fuel module assembly. The fuel pressure regulator, located in the fuel tank, is attached to the fuel sender assembly. The fuel pressure regulator keeps the fuel available to the fuel injectors at a regulated pressure

that seems to be the going trend with alot of Grand Prix"s - its the hinge inside the fuel door that has rotted off

You have to empty the fuel tank somehow (siphon the gasoline out into a fuel can so it doesn't sit around and cause fumes to concentrate where they could be ignited). Jack the rear axle of the car up and put it on jack stands for safety. Disconnect the filler line and fuel lines that go toward the front of the car from the fuel tank, unbolt the 2 straps holding the fuel tank, lower the fuel tank (take care not to damage any of the lines or hoses as it comes down, take off the locking ring, remove the fuel fuel sending assembly, disassemble it, then reassemble with the new fuel pump, place the assembly back into the tank and put the locking ring back on, then put the fuel tank back in, reconnect the fuel lines, fill the tank with just a few gallons, test to see if it starts, take it off jack stands. Remove the tweeter assembly inside the door. There will be a lug and bolt. remove it, It comes right off. make sure to un hook the wires as well.

I just fixed mine the other day. Take off all the screws you see inside the fuel door (You will need a #15 torx screwdriver and a small socket set). Then you have to drill out the 2 rivets (one on top, and one below the hinge.

You should be able to remove the door and hinge assembly now.

I think you will find that the hinge pins have rusted out. I replace mine with the shafts of drill bits. You will not be able to cut the drill bits, but if you put them in a vice you can break them off at the appropriate length with a hammer, just watch your eyes :-)

Then re-install, and re-rivet.

Hello! It sounds as if you have a wheel speed sensor that is failing. The wheel speed sensor calculates the wheel/tire revolutions and sends this information to the speedometer, which then displays that information as MPH/KPH. On 97-06 Grand Prix's this and the ABS sensor are the same module, and in order to replace, you must replace the entire hub assembly. Here is a view of the hub assembly from the back side of the hub/wheel assembly. You may want to inspect the sensor wires for any fraying, loose connections, etc.

no you must drop the tank

in the engine compartment near the battery you should see a flat plastic cover with tabs on each end... remove that and there are fuses and relays under it. the fuel relay should be there.
