The side of the engine closest to the radiator is the even number cylinders, 2-4-6. The side next to the firewall is1-3-5.

Looking at the coils from the front of the engine the one on the left is 5-2, center 3-6, right side 4-1. If the coils haven't been replaced the cylinder numbers will be on the top of the coil. The plug wires will also have the cylinder numbers on them if they have not been replaced

firing order 1-2-3-4-5-6

The 4G64 (2.4L) engine is an in-line four cylinder engine. The cylinder numbers are assigned as 1-2-3-4 from the front of the engine (timing belt side). This engine is fired in the order of the 1, 3, 4 and 2 cylinders.

Is firing order the same as cylinder number placement? If not can you please help me on this? I have a 2000 nissan quest. It is having a misfire in cylinder number 6 but where is that? I have a picture...

The diagram you have is correct. Number 6 is the cylinder to the far right and next to the radiator.
The firing order is how the plug wires are connected to the distributor cap or coil.
Keep in mind if you have a trouble code 306 it could also be caused by a faulty injector or mechanical problem.

Proper placement of spark plug wire to proper spark plug and so called distrubor . Need a picture diagram to check and confirm connection.

Not sure if you have the 2.2L or 3.4L, however I have included both below,

For the 2.2L:
Firing Order:
1-3-4-2
Cylinders:
(back of engine)
1---2----3----4
(front of engine)

For the 3.4L
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
(back of engine)
2-------1
4-------3
6-------5
(front of engine)
Ignition Connections:
(back)
|(5)-(2)| |(3)-(6)| |(4)-(1)|
(front)

Need ignition firing for 95 4 l. engine

1-5-3-6-2-4

ALL Jeep 4.0 motors use this firing order. Any year, any model, high output or not.

Also, the spark plug wire placement on the cap, in a clockwise direction from the post nearest the engine block is: 6-2-4-1-5-3. (to the left side of the number 6 post, there should be a hold down screw or strap for fastening the distributor cap to the distributor.
