Hi! You must be frustrated by now! your code is marking that the O2 sensor is bad in bank 1. Did you replace the O2 sensor that is located before the catalytic converter? The S10 has an O2 sensor specially made for that cat. its about 30$ That would explain for your blackened spark plugs; your pc on the car is asking for more fuel. GOOD LUCK!!

If this car uses an electrically heated O2 sensor, the heater portion may be bad. If the car has a lot of miles, the O2 sensor may be getting bad also.

Yes, replace the MAF, then check if the lean condition goes away. It should.
MAF's are sensitive to cleaning. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

i would check ur fuses that supply voltage to ur o2 sensors, their in the fuse box and usually r labeled o2 sensr. sounds like the o2 sensrs dont have power

DTC P0171 - System Too Lean (Bank 1)
Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1.
Note: This DTC is very similar to P0174, and in fact your vehicle may show both codes at the same time.
According woth your previous tasks, inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary.
Check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, pipes, catalytic converter. Repair as required.
Use a scope to diagnose the oxygen sensor operation (Tip: The oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter normally has a fluctuating waveform. The waveform of the sensor behind the converter should be more steady).
Inspect the downstream heated oxygen sensor (HO2), replace if necessary
Replace the catalytic converter
