Key stuck in ignition, engine will not start battery is hot but no lights

If you are saying the battery is hot to the touch, that means something is drawing high current form the battery and you need to disconnect it before you have a fire or the battery melts. Then you need to find the cause for the heavy current draw. The key is stuck because the shift interlock depends on battery voltage to be high enough for it to work.

I left my trunk door open all night and my battery died. I thought the key I use for the ignition would be the same key to unlock the door if the battery died? How do I enter my 2006 Dodge stratus with the...

Hi,

Thank you for contacting fixya.com.

The key lock/unlock for doors are powered by the batteries in the remote, while the ignition key draws its energy from the vehicle via induction. Since the battery is dead you are having this problem. You need to call assistance from the nearby auto shop or a locksmith. I guess you don't have any other option.

I can jump it but then it runs for a minute and then quits running

Hi, if the car dies after removing the jumper cables, the alternator is not working. Remove it and have it tested at your local parts chain. If you have any questions, please let me know, and thanks for using FixYa.

Code 51 ,battery goes dead when connected ,clock spring replaced on air bag

2004 subaru forester battery keeps going dead, the only thing I see on is the alarm light

You have a voltage draw. Usually something like a trunk light, interior light, or glove box light.
If you can use a meter or a test light...disconnect your battery ground, and put the light or meter between the cable end and the battery. A normal draw will be a very slight light of the bulb, or a small milli-amp reading. A big draw will give a bright light or higher amp readings, so now you remove fuses, one at a time to break it down to what may be causing the draw.

Make sure the button in the ignition switch indent is popping back up. Your lights and radio are probably staying on too.
