Any idea where I can find the steering wheel control wires for a 2012 Ford escape. I'm trying to hook up key1 and/or key2 wires from an Android head unit

I'm looking for the wires that control the buttons on the steering wheel. Aftermarket "radios" cannot use these buttons without an adapter or in my case the key1/key2 wires build into my unit. Pins 18 and 19 on the vehicle wiring harness may be the ones I'm looking for, but I've seen a lot of different information and want to be sure before I remove radio again.

those controls will only work with your factory audio unit not aftermarket ( it has an interphase )

SOURCE: the horn and cruise control doesn't work, fuses are

the horn input to ground is located in the cruise control module. if they both don't work then your cruise control module or the clockspring coil for the steering wheel needs to be replaced. If airbag lights is on as well then I would change the clockspring coil first.

SOURCE: I get a squeaking noise when i turn the steering

I have a 2002 Escape V6. I had a squeak when turning... even when standing still. It was fairly low mileage: 40,000 miles?
It was the outer tie rod. You could feel it squeak in your hand while someone else turned the steering wheel.
I disconnected the tie rod. I wasn't worn, just squeaky. I squirted a little WD40 inside the boot, and worked it in. Reassembled and squeak gone.
I bought a replacement tie rod, but never had to put it on. I'm now at 110,000 miles.

SOURCE: 2002 ford escape tie rod squeaks

My outer tie rod did the same thing when just out of warranty. I could tell it was "bad" by putting my hand on the tie rod while someone else turned the steering a little and I could easily feel the vibration.
Check the other side to feel the difference. Tie rods don't cost that much, if you can replace it yourself, and take a chance on foregoing the wheel alignment. Maybe a $150? job at the shop.
In my case, a tie rod was not readily available. I verified that it was a good joint; no shake or rattle. Then I squirted a little WD40 inside the boot, and put it back together. 70,000 miles later, the new tie rod is still on my shelf waiting for the squeak to return.

If the cruise lamp comes on and the cruise does not set i would advise inspecting the cruise cable and make certain it is not broken, if ok the the servo has likely failed.

Where is the fuse in fuse box for taillight on 2012 Ford Escape

The tail light fuse in a 2012 Ford Fusion can be found in the fuse panel that is in the cabin on the driver's side under the steering wheel. The fuse should be number 22 but always check with the cover that is over the panel to confirm. If Your tail lights are out on Your Fusion the first thing You should check are the bulbs. These burn out regularly and are a consumable part. If they are okay then the next thing to check are the fuses. If the fuse is blown go ahead and replace it and make sure the lights work. If You are popping fuses regularly to Your tail lights then there is likely a short in the wiring to them.

My horn stop working and when I lock the doors with remote key it wont sound when you lock the doors Forgot to add that it is a 2012 Ford Escape Horn does not work from the inside either. Is it a fuse

Does the horn sound when you press it on the steering wheel if not check for a blown fuse to horn and then if ok see if you have power to horn and then if that is ok run a wire from the battery to the horn and see if it honks.

What is the Shroud on the steering column of a 2003 Ford Escape and what tool can I use to remove it

Steering column shroud is the plastic cover just below the steering wheel that tidies away from sight the switches, wiring and connectors beneath.

Most shrouds are sectional and held in place with a combination of partially hidden screws, disguised screws and internal clips. Some shrouds aren't sectional and the steering wheel must be removed as a first step towards removal.

Please be aware modern steering wheels have the airbag and beneath the shroud is the wiring and connections. It isn't wise to fool around in there unless you know what you are doing.

I have bought a stereo but I'm having trouble wiring it up,I'm left with 5 cables, I'm not sure what they are or do.They are labelled like this, BRAKE-IN, AMP-CON, KEY2-5V, KEY1-5V and REVERSE-IN.

these r optional and do not do anything if u do not have the hardware to utilize them
BRAKE-IN, - used for DVD player so it will play.
AMP-CON, - used to send 12v signal to amp to turn them on
KEY2-5V, - Steering wheel controls.
KEY1-5V - same as above.
REVERSE-IN - used to trigger reverse camera to turn on.

I need to remove my steering wheel on a 2004 Ford Escape I loosened the nob and the steering wheel comes loose but not all the way off it clicks like it feels like it is hitting something anyone know

If I am not mistaken you have an air bag on that vehicle, if you pinch a wire and short the air bag it will go off, and something you definitely want to avoid. I am leaving you a link to a video showing how to remove the steering wheel from an 06 model.. I am pretty sure they are the same..

Front dc power outlet not working. can someone tell me which fuse controls it? owners manuel doesn't list it.

Try this: google images 2012 Ford Escape front power wiring diagram.
There is probably a special fuse or even circuit breaker, due to the potential load demand.

When the Escape is just sitting, after you start it,if you turn the steering wheel, just a little, the engine shuts off. All the dash lights are still on and it will restart everytime. You can go forward...

Hello, You could be right about chaffed wiring in the column. What you might try to isolate the effect is to jack up the front wheels and take the load off the steering components. This would minimize any Drag effects stalling the car out from the steering pump working too hard.

Then if you have the same effect, the chaffed wires should continue to rub in the column. If the problem goes away with the wheels up, you will need to look at the moving parts under the hood. There should be some type of step-up sensor to increase the RPM when the steering pump is under a load.

I would ask at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys for instance, to find this sensor. It may be mounted on the Rack and Pinion or on a flow line. You may lose a little fluid when changing it, but it should be a bolt in part.
