The computer only knows, level so if the level is wrong
its will just do the math (compare) and set the low fuel lamp.
i guess you lost the operators guide, it tells you when that happens get car serviced
if you have tools scan it.
Am I to guess, car drives perfectly and all other accessories on car are ok. as that is first, first;.
if yes, the the tank fuel sensor or wires to it are bad
but we scan it first after checking fuses.
no photo of your warning lamps. so no accurate answers ever.
your opr. guide page 145 covers this. (instruments)
page 157 error 22 , "circle/ bar key" is the IMMOBILIZER.
if that lamp glows the car will never start and drive (runs 2 seconds only as the guide told you)
you NEVER SAID that....??????DOES NOT DRIVE.
here i will read page 14 to you, with IMMO lamp glowing
"Afterwards,
if the bulb remains on, this indicates a malfunction in the
electronics. If the bulb begins to flash immediately after
the ignition switch is turned on, this indicates that an
invalid key is being used to start the vehicle. Both of
these conditions will result in the engine being shut
down after 2 seconds of running. Keep in mind that a key
which has not been programmed is also considered an
invalid key even if it is cut to fit the ignition for that
vehicle.
If the SKIS indicator light comes on during normal
vehicle operation (it has been running for longer than 10
seconds) a fault has been detected in the electronics and
the vehicle should be serviced as soon as possible."

if you lost your book
here it is, last chance is this year,
http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/

check fuses.
make sure battery is fully charged, if not charge it
then scan it.
when any warnings POP

My gas light is on, took off gas cap & put back on but light still on. Any suggestins?

I suggest you read the vehicle owner's handbook to be certain what the exact function of the light is. You will need to know that in order to determine whether the light is warning you or is broken.

The fuel light usually warns the fuel level in the tank is low...

Low fuel light on gauge doesnt work

lamp burned out, ?
but does the fuel guage work 100%
and at what tank level do you expect the lamp to come on.?
did you read the FSM on this, its covered
or alldata.com?
free.
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

on this car, the PCM reads the fuel level then sets the fuel guage
and if the level (voltage from tank sender) is below a specific
voltage , it glows the lamp, low fuel
so if the fuel guage works, and the lamp is dead, the lamp is burned out. (or conn. bad to it)

What fuse is for the PCM on a 2005 Jeep Liberty?

the key with a slash light is the security light, it has been set off, most likely cause is the key, but you will need to have someone retreve the anti theft codes, might be a easey as just reseting the anti theft system. you will need a scanner to retreve the codes....good luck

2002 Silhoutte, when idling in park, the gas guage will drop to empty and the low fuel light will come on. What is causing this? Any safety concerns?

One of two things but only one safe reliable repair.
1. Loose faulty connector on top on fuel sending module/pump - repaired with a new plug.
2. fuel level sender inside fuel tank is defective - repaired by replacing fuel module.
To kill both birds, replace fuel pump module. It will come with the new connector and new sender.

The mileage on my Jeep has dropped from 16 to 12 mpg in the last 3-4 weeks. I have been pulling a popup tent trailer behind it (only weighs about 1,600 lbs.), but the mileage drop has been evident even...

These are the most common causes for bad mileage.
Tire pressure is a huge factor (Tire should be set at the factory recommendation or 1-2 psi above, but never below - Tire should also be a Low Rolling Resistance Tire)
Oil level (you said it's OK, so I assume it's not above the full mark)
Running extra accessories (A/C, etc)
Dirty Air Filter
bad Ignition timing
engine running hotter than normal
fuel injectors may be stuck partially open
bad fuel pressure regulator
faulty emission control device (this usually triggers a check engine light)

Fuel guage reads 1/4 at all times even when full. How do I repair

1.If the needle on the guage is stuck. you can try tapping the guage to see if the needle moves or turn the ignition on and off a few times to see if you can get it to move. If the guage drops to empty when you turn off the ignition you know that its not the guage. (note that the guage does not drop to zero when ignition is off with all cars of this age).

2. The problem could be with the sensor in the fuel tank itself. Rocking the vehicle up and down from the rear (you will need help doing this) may free the sensor level indicator ball in the tank.
