A 93 ram 150 318 engine bay search comes up with a carby set up

will reply to that set up

how many miles on the engine
any other issues other than fouling plugs ?

running rich ?
anti pollution or EGR valve not working properly
carboned up intake manifold
poor cylinder compression
if not
could have hardened oil stem seals and the oil is dribbling down the valves into the combustion chamber
you wont see smoke out the tail pipe

valve stem seals can be replaced with the heads on

you could go to iridium plugs

Do you have a little screw driver? there is a fuel pressure test port take the cap out now be carefull when you do this crank it and at the same time press the shrader does gas come out like alotnot just a little but alot if it does then the fuel pump works now if it dribbles then your fuel pump failed,Okay if the fuel pump works the only thing that is left is the coil and ignition control module, before you decide to do the module or the coil the number on reason for it not to start is connection to the coil I see this all the time go to the coil connection and have some one crank it while you wiggle it and see if it start then.now if it still doesnt start youll just have to test for spark and if there is no spark your best solution is to replace the whole distributor why because there is a relector that has always failed even when it gives spark. and fuel because as a timed unit it gave fuel and spark at the wrong time here use the picture included in #1 wiggle connection #2 check for sparkcansmo_0.png

Car jerks when i drive and makes loud pop Toyota camry 89

Your going to want to make sure that you've kept up on all of your maintenance before trying to further diagnose this. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter. I misfire can result from fouled plugs, deteriorated wires, worn cap, rotor, or plugged fuel filter. Do a tune up if it has'nt been done in the last 90,000 miles.

I have a 1994 Chevy C1500 w/ 4.3 liter and my plugs are fouling out about every 500 miles or less and everything else maintanence wise I've replaced resently. Can someone give an idea on what need

Does the truck run right? Does it smell real gassy, fuel mileage go south? If it is fouling plugs that fast it either has to be burning a lot of fuel or oil. Is there a check engine light on? Engine wore out, burning a lot of oil. Fuel injector stuck, using a lot of gas. Air filter dirty, making it burn way rich. I would think this truck would really smell bad if it is fouling out the plugs that fast.

My 2002 taurus is hesitating so we tried gas treatment and replaced fuel filter...it's better but still hesitates and idles rough. What's next to look at?

When using gas treatment, it's a good idea to pull the spark plugs after 500 miles. Most engine / gas cleaners are effective but the impurities burn off on the plugs and they can become fouled. Another place to look is the distributor cap and rotor. A tiny crack in the cap is all it takes for an engine to run rough. Lastly, inspect the spark plug wires very closely. Look for any bare spots and ensure that they are tight both at the spark plug and at the distributor cap.

Hi, Ok you have confirmed that it's not a fuel problem. You need to check for spark. Pull the coil wire off of the coil(secondary lead-looks like a spark plug wire) Have some one crank it over and listen for a popping sound. IF yes, spark is at the coil, that means all ignition sensors are working. Next check for spark at ends of wires after cap. IF no replace cap and rotor. IF yes remove a couple spark plugs and check for fouling(wet, fuel etc...) IF yes replace or clean plugs and retest for starting. IF no spark is present at coil you need to scan computer and watch for rpm signal. IF no rpm signal, replace crankshaft sensor with OEM delco part. BIGGEST problem with these engines is Cap and Rotor burn out.

I have a 93 lexus ls 400. With less than 100000 miles. Why would one plug keep fouling. Always the same plug. Thank you for your help. It is truely appreciated.

Look at the plug. Is it full of oil? If so you have an oil ring problrm on that cylinder. More likely though you have an ignition problem on that cylinder. Check dist cap, rotor, and plug wire. If that fails, check compression in affected cylinder.

You guys are having an ignition misfire. Start by replacing the plugs, (ONLY use NGK plugs on a Japanese vehicle. There's a reason Bosch plugs are so cheap)  and gap them correctly. If you have a cap and rotor in your distributor, replace them, too. If that doesn't do it, check the plug wires for cracks, scoring, or arcing (will look like chalk dust).
After all that, check the wiring from the coil and the coil itself. It could be something as simple as a corroded contact that needs to be cleaned.
Good luck!
