Sounds like a failed fuel pump in the tank. Try listening at the opened fuel filler and have assistant turn ignition on without cranking. Should hear buzzing or whirring for a very brief (2 sec.) time. If not... also check connectors and fuses. Could try banging on bottom of tank while assistant cranks over, sometimes will make it work for a while.
The flasher itself is toast. It’s mounted in the in cab fuse box. Looks like a small cylinder, usually silver metal or black plastic. Pop over to a parts store, usually about 5 bucks.
Yep, heres one. Start with pulling the crank fuse. The fuse is probably good, but you have a corrosion/contact issue. Putting it back will solve this issue. I would do all of them, as one will do it, more are sure to follow. Also do they relays. Next would be checking wires. Most times wires will loose connection at the plug, sometimes they will break right at the plug.
Sounds to me like a bad battery, however the alternator could be bad as well if it's not charging the battery enough to allow for amperage to crank. Auto Parts Forum
when it don't start check to see if the car has spark. Also listen to see if you can hear the fuel pump in the gas tank working. Fuel pump should make a buzzing noise when you first turn the key on for a few seconds. If the car has spark but you can't hear the fuel pump the pump is probably your problem. If you can hear the pump and have no spark I would check the crank sensor. If you cant hear the fuel pump be sure to check the fuel pump relay under the hood in the fuse box before changing the fuel pump. Good luck
hi, you had specified as, the headlights are not working properly & making a buzz sound. The problem is the circuit has a loose connectivity either at the switch or near the bulb. while you are able to hear the buzzing sound check the position of the wires near the source of sound. You will be able to find where the connectivity should be tightened exactly.please do this as early as possible since the loose connection can damage the circuit and the switches due to high temperature. thanks, have a nice day.
Before anything else, you have to find out if it is a fuel delivery problem or a glow plug problem or, are your batteries tired? (Not cranking fast enough) Batteries have to be replaced every 3-5 years on a diesel.
1) Check your lift pump. It brings the fuel to the injection pump. It should make a buzzing noise when working. (You can feel the vibration if you put your hand on it.) It should buzz as soon as the key is turned to the on position without having to crank the engine.)
2) Check glow plugs. If the wait light only goes on for two seconds, then your glow plugs are burning out. (The wait light usually is on for at least ten seconds. Longer if it's really cold.)
3) Or the injection pump itself is weak. (Hopefully it's not this, as it can be very expensive to replace. We only want to do this as a last resort.)
Check the solenoid which I believe is mounted on the passenger side fender, near the battery. It should have connections for 4 wires on it, 2 mounting bolts, about $15- $20 part, easy to replace. Let me know how you make out.
It sounds like the ignition switch is bad, it is not sending voltage to what it should when it is in the run position. This will not effect how it cranks.
