When I put the rear windows down on my 2006 Highlander and the speed gets up above 35 mph or so there I experience a horrible vibration. At 60 mph it gets so bad that the front passenger seat vibrates noticably if it's not occupied. This has happened with previous Corolla and Camrys -- cab you tell me the cause and whether or not it can be fixed?
You are cupping air in the vehicke. To eliminate it, don't open opposing windows the same amount. If you have the driver's window opened, also open the opposite side rear window. Baffels on the windows will help.
Inspect the universal joint. See if the driveshaft has any play in it. This could also be caused by a bad, dry, or damaged wheel bearing. Those items can be fixed. Hope this helped.
I have a 2004 Highlander and also experience this. I don't think that my passenger seat shakes though. When a passenger in the back seat opens the rear window, I usually have to crack one of the front windows to make the "air" vibration go away. I think that this "air" vibration is caused by the shape of the car's interior.

The vibration appears to be less prominent but still present. It's the worst when the front windows are closed and both back windows are open.
Does the vibration occur when all four windows are down?
