Use a ohms meter on end terminals, you may have to disconnect it depending on the circuit .

Testimonial: "there is a 5 pins in the blower where should i put a negative probe and the positive probe?"

  • Stan Ford Sep 04, 2016

One end of all the resistors will be connected to one pin, the other resistors connect to the circuit as the switch is turned, make sure there is no power to the circuit before connecting a ohms meter.

2004 Dodge Dakota. It keeps blowing the blower fan resistor, and now the blower motor quit. Is there something wrong with the temperature control?

The problem was the motor. Replace the blower motor and resister and it should be fine.

If the blower motor resistor is experiencing repeated failure, the blower motor is likely drawing too much current. Excess current draw from the blower motor will cause the resistor to burn out. The blower motor in your truck has a resistor block with multiple resistor wires.

I have a 2003 pontiac bonneville 3.8...not turbo...I'm looking for the blower resister....where is it located?

cab heater blower dead on all speeds, ????
high speed never uses a resistor block,
high is full 12vdc to the blower (fast max)
fuse 37 and fuse2 not blow or wrong size or blower is dead.
the blower is 2 pin 1DC motor, and can be hot wire tested easy in place to see if it is bad. fails this simple test, the controller is not bad.
BINGO this car.
most modern cars have no such resistor block at all
the BCM and CCM climate control module modulates the fan
ending blown up resistors forever , (glory on high)
did you check fuse first and scan the PCM next/ oops?
your car came new with 2 HVAC types
full auto and manual controls, so I will now answer for both.
Neither has a resistor block, it has blower motor control processor 6 wires. (end block hunts)

I will read your SM manaul to you now
ok both work the same for blower,
now where is it.
B for blower, 1 for here it is, the controller processor
the manual tells all steps to reach here. RTM"?

Replaced the resister and blower motor still nothing what next

Test for current to motor. If none you have either a bad fuse, bad switch or bad wiring. Nothing else left.

My 2003 suburban rear blower not working replaced blow it works jumped out check resister I have 12 v going to the resister but ony 1.7 volts to blower replaced resister worked for a week then stoped...

If your original blower burned up, or if the original resistor failed, it is likely that some of the wires leading to the resistor and blower BURNED slightly in the process, and will need to be replaced all the way back to where they connect to the fuse block. (The wires may have been pinched or otherwise damaged somewhere, so they no longer carry the amount of current required, causing the resistor to fail due to a low-voltage over-current condition.) Sadly a failed resistor can also burn the motor out. Check the windings of the motor (via the connector) using an ohmmeter to see if it is still good.

How to test a blower motor resistor

Unplug the electrical connector to the resistor. There are 4 terminals on the resistor block. You test the resistor block using an electrical multi-meter, set to the Ohms scale. Using the meter's test leads, check the following:
Between terminals 2 & 3, you should have 2.3 ohms resistance.
Between terminals 3 &4 you should have 1.1 ohms resistance.
Between terminals 3 & 1 you should have 0.4 ohms resistance.
A bad resistor block will generally show infinite ohms on one or more of these tests. Look very carefully [magnifying glass] for the marks which identify the terminals on the block.

My heater blowers dnt work and i need to knw where i can locate the resister blocks for my heater blowers so i can ghange them

Its located under dash,or near glove box.

The dash panel lower side has to be out.

HEATER BLOWER MOTOR

Its faulty blower motor resistor. The low and medium speed on blower motor is controlled by resistor and its actual speed is high. So because resistor is not working, blower motors actual speed which is high is working.

It can be faulty blower motor or faulty blower motor resistor. Get the blower motor inspected. If it's faulty it has to be replaced.

How do i change the resistor on a chevrolet kalos 1.2

U need to check both inside blower motor fuse and engine fuse block blower fuse. if niether are blown check the blower relay in inside fuse block see if it is clicking when you turn your controler on high. if so its more than likly a bad ground, witch is found on the rt. side of the center counsel near the ash tray. if they are all ok test to see if yiu have power to the motor with a test light to ground. both sides light you have a bad ground, one side you have a bad blower motor. The resister pack in your other Question is next to the blower but high is on its own direct circuit, other speeds are from the resister pack.

The blower motor needs to be replaced. Also if it only blows on high the blower motor resister block may need to be replaced as well.

Heater Control Switch Only Works on High

Your problem is probably a part called the heater resistor block or board. When this part burns out you will only have high speed on the fan. On my 1999 voyager it is located on the firewall and it snaps in a hole in the firewall. This is under the hood behind the alternator.
Mine had a multi pin black plug plugged into it. Unplug the plug and
you should be able to pull the block out insert new block and plug plug back in and it should come to life.
