Mower starts, runs for about 5 mins, stalls out, won't restart till i plug the plug and let it cool down, it will restart fine, but same thing happens again
Hi Pvaj:
I'd be suspicious of a bad spark plug or a broken wire.
When it heats up it will expand, and if there is a broken component, a gap can be created. When it cools, contraction happens, and the contact is restored.
I'd start by replacing the spark plug. If it starts and runs fine, problem fixed!
If it runs and then dies, I'd immediately pull the plug, connect the lead, and check for spark at the plug. If there is no (or weak) spark, then trace back to source the problem. Possible could be bad wire, more likely, bad coil.
Hope this helps you.
Cheers
Probably either a fuel or a spark problem. You need to check for the presence of a good spark immediately the engine stops - by using a spark gap, a spare spark plug or a propriety spark indicator.
If the spark is found to be absent the fault is likely the ignition module but check all connections and the stop switch operation before replacing.
If the spark is present then the fault is probably fuel-related and is the sort of thing a tiny droplet of water in the carb could cause...

I'd suggest the ignition control module, however I'd have a certified mechanic check it out just in case...

Need to check for fault codes. Possibly a faulty sensor causing the fuel system to run rich or lean.

Check the prrimary and secondary resistance on your coil. Also check the resistance of the plug wires and plug gap.

a bad crank sensor can cause this. shuts off while going down road, and will start about 10 min, later with no problems runs fine until it quits again. hope this helps,
