If you were in an accident, it would need reset. Most likely your pump has died. The switch is on the passenger side. either under the dash, behind the kick panel, you'll see a hole in it to put your finger. Or it could be in the trunk behind the carpet. This is where I have found the switch in all makes and models.

How to remove the inertia switch from my 2004 Ford Expedition

The inertia switch, also known as the fuel cutoff switch, is typically located in the cargo area of the vehicle, behind the trim panel or carpeting. Here are the general steps to remove the inertia switch from a 2004 Ford Expedition:
  1. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition.
  2. Locate the inertia switch in the cargo area of the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure the switch is not live.
  4. Press the release button or tab on the switch to unlock it from its bracket.
  5. Gently pull the switch out of its bracket and disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
  6. If you need to replace the switch, install the new switch by reversing the above steps.
It's important to note that some Ford models have a reset button on the inertia switch that can be pressed to reset the switch instead of completely removing it. If your Expedition has a reset button, it may be worth trying that before attempting to remove the switch.

Changed the battery and it set off the alarm. it seams like it activated a kill switch of some kind. is there a way to reset it?

You probably had your alarm set when you took out the old one. Just unlock your doors with your key fob, then disconnect the battery again for a few minutes and let it reset with the alarm off.

What does the fuel reset indicator stands for? Ford explorer 98

Hey Carlos , does your vehicle run ?
Fuel Reset
The FUEL RESET indicator is grounded through the inertia switch whenever the vehicle is subjected to a high force situation. The inertia fuel shutoff switch (IFS switch) (9341) cuts off the fuel pump motor. The FUEL RESET indicator illuminates when the IFS switch has been tripped.

Inertia switch keeps cutting off while cranking engine

Power goes from the fuse box to the fuel pump relay to the inertia switch and then to the fuel pump motor.I would suggest bypassing the inertia switch for now just to see if you can get the vehicle started and go from there. FYI The inertia switch is just there in case you get in a collision and shuts fuel off. Good Luck

Vehicle was involved in a front end impact - Now vehicle won't start - Right after the accident tryed to start the vehicle and it wouldn't crank.

Very simple, Ford's use inertia switches. They shut the fuel off when you are in an accident. Just call ford and ask for the location of the inertia switch on your vehicle. You just push it in to reset it.

Good luck
