You may have a bent crank. start the engine and watch your harmonic balancer pulley, See if it is smooth or kind of wonky . Don't know if wonky is a word, but a bent drive shaft would create a lot of new words! It actually may look like it is bent or very shaky.

Provided that the engine is in good condition (nothing like a pulled stud) Start with the points (0.4mm) Now reset the timing to 5 degrees advance - static. Then Set the valves (0.15mm) Make sure the carburetor is clean and correctly set. To set it, warm up the motor to operating temperature, set the idle at 750 rpm an screw the volume control screw out a few turns. Then screw it back in slowly till you notice the rpms start to drop. Then back it out an 1/8 of a turn to a 1/4 of a turn. Now set the idle at 700 rpm again. It may be wise to check that the butterfly valve shaft has not worn the carburetor. If that happens the engine will run erratically due to the motor receiving a false air supply.

Plenty of places will do FREE diagnostic code reads.
I would rather suggest it be a muffler shop than AUTOZONE... but either is better than guessing.
AUTOZONE will likely make you buy OXYGEN
sensors... (but that makes about as much sense as
buying a new THERMOMETER every-time you
have a FEVER.
What you are describing sounds (from an old
mechanic's perspective) like a collapsing
catalytic convertor or rotted muffler baffle
(a slightly better blockage will halt operation
completely)...
((again speculation... get your codes read))...
Do not buy OXYGEN SENSORS....
Know your prices before waltzing into any
exhaust shop.
