Oohh I'd get that fixed soon. It could be -

- worn steering tie rod ends
- worn or loose inner tie rod ball joints (if fitted)
- loose steering box mounts
- loose wheel bearings
- loose steering shaft spline connection
- even loose wheel nuts

I'd try not to drive it, except to the nearest front end shop, slowly.

Wobble at front of car between 20 & 40 on accelleration only

check your suspension sys. tie rods and idler arms ball joints.

  1. block rear wheels in park parking brake on
  2. jack up and support car so that the front wheels are about 1 inch off the ground.
  3. look over and vigorously push and pull on parts. look for loose parts.
  4. grab the top of the wheel are try to wiggle back and fourth. it should not wiggle. if it do'es then your wheel bearings under the center cap on wheel are lose and need repacking and tighten, then back off 1/4 turn and insert cotter pin.
  5. any movement in steering or suspension or something doesn't look right. have it checked

When front wheels are wiggle back to front and vice versa when car is parked, the wheels seem to be loose. It also makes noises when pulling away. Can it be bearings or cv joints?

Hello Johan:
Seems as if you have 3 potential problems, and determining where the "wiggle" is should assist if finding it.
If you can block the diagonally opposite wheel and then jack and safely support the problem one, here are some suggestions:
1) Rotate the wheel gently forward, then back, then forward, then back. If there is a clunking sound, look at the cv joint while doing this, If you can see slop or slack movement in the cv joint assembly, a bearing is probably failing. These are not servicable and the assembly including drive axles will need replacement.
2) Hold the top and bottom of the wheel. Alternately push in at the top and at the same time pull out at the bottom. Slack in the centre of the wheel will indicate a problem with the wheel bearing. Again, usually non-servicable (depending on make and model) so a replacement project.
3) Remove the wheel nuts and wheel and methodically inspect all of the suspension components. Coil springs on struts are notorious for breaking. Use a bar or big screwdriver to wigge every part that has a flexible (Ball joint) coupling. Any slack means another remove/replace project.
There are some excellent youtube fixit clips available by using Google and specifying maky, model, year, and the description of your project.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

My steering wheel wiggles

You could have an out-of-balance or out-of-round condition on the front tires, but similarly it could be something more serious

-loose front wheel hub
-worn front suspension joint
-worn steering tie rod joint
-loose steering box mounts
-loose steering column u-joint
-loose or word steering wheel attachment

2007 chevy silverado steering shudder over bumps

Are the wheel lug nuts tight? Jack up the front end and wiggle each wheel to check for loose wheel bearings. If the truck has a lot of miles, the upper and especially the lower ball joints may be worn enough to cause problems. With the wheels back on the ground, have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth slowly while you watch each tie rod end for looseness. If the left wheel moves before the right one does, there is play somewhere in the linkage between the wheels.

My 1998 saturn has a steering wheel problem. It is locked in park and will not unlock...

there is a sensor attached to the brake pedal that unlocks the shifter can be bad or loose. Sometime wiggling the wheel back and forth will unlock the shifter and ignition. Also pressing the lever up past park will usually unlock it as well

My car trembles when i accelerate and when its on

wiggling or trembling are mostly cause by the front wheels.
it could only be unbalanced air pressure of the tires.
if not, it could be loose tie rod ends connecting to the steering wheel. fittings might have been worn out already and needs to be replaced.
to check whether if which side is causing it, lift or jack the left or right tire, then manually try to wiggle it, push or pull it, try every possible way to determine and looseness on the wheel. do the same on the other front wheel.
if one of then is loose or wiggles as you check, then there is a loose part on that wheel. check carefully.

94 Cherokee Steering loose

it's likely the tie rod ends... jack up the vehicle... both front tires at the same time if you can. grab the tire in the 9 and 3 o'clock positions and try to wiggle the wheel side to side.... if it wiggles... tie rod. now grab the wheel in the 12 and 6 o'clock position... see if it moves up and down... that would be your ball joint. replace as necessary
