Why isn't radio working?

There was a CD in, when I started the car the volume was loud no knobs would work. CD would not eject. It will turn off when I turn the car off. The clock doesn't work either.

SOURCE: radio controls and lcd on dash not working unless lights on

The front radio control bezel has failed and needs to be replaced. You can unplug the ETACs ecu and plug it back in and it will wake the panel up, but it will only last a few hours before it happens again.

This is an emerging problem on 08+ Lancers and 07+ Outlanders

SOURCE: Radio, clock, interior light and central locking not working

This is as a result of a short occurring most likely in the radio harness.

It happened me while working on a customers car. In my case checked all fuses and they all appeared fine, both those under the hood/bonnet and those underneath the steering wheel.

After studying the workshop electrical schemmatics for the car it appears that the clock, interior lights, central locking receiver and radio permanent live/battery are all on the one line.

In effect damage had occurred after the internal fuse panel, therefore all fuses were ok and supplying power across them, but at some point after there was a break in the wire.

However you DO NOT need to remove dash and or replace harnesses to rectify.

Look at the fuse panel underneath the steering wheel. Slot 18 (bottom RHS) and you will see in raised plastic 'BACK UP'. Inserting a 10A fuse here will restore the interior lights, radio, clock and your central locking.

There is a small plastic piece in the way which prevents a fuse going in. Simply use a thin pair of pliers, scissors or a screwdriver (or similar tool) to break this and all pieces of it away until you are able to insert the 10A mini blade fuse.

Problem Sorted!

(I believe the fact this back up exists is because the designers of electrical system at mitsibushi realised it had shortcomings or this would be a potential problem - and included the back up for such an occurence)

SOURCE: My battery was replaced, I HAVE THE RADIO CODE , BUT IT DOESN'T TURN ON THE RADIO, MY CLOCK STOPPED, MY CD PLAYER WON'T WORK...WHAT WENT WRONG?

You need to see the dealer for information on the radio code. Also sue O'Reilly auto for improper installation of the new battery.

The radio won't work. It is currently on cd mode. When I put the radio on it starts playing the same cd that has been in for a week now. All the buttons dont work. I can't change the mode.

Sound as if there is an internal problem with the system. Will the CD eject when commanded? If not, try to remove it manually with a pair of tweezers or something of the sort to see if it will come back on line. You can also disconnect the battery for a few minutes to erase the units memory ( you may require a code if it has a theft feature ) to see if it will start working again. If nothing gets better, suspect an internal unit issue
