Sounds like you may have a bad injector. Are all cylinders flooding or only one? Pull the injectors from the intake and leave them connected to the fuel rail. Spin it over and see if they are spraying a fine mist or gushing out.

all of the spark plugs are flooded out do the injectors pull out or screw out these injectors have clips on them thanks Lawson

  • Frankie B Sep 16, 2015

The clips just pop off and the injectors pull out, no screws, but you need to leave the top of the injectors connected to the fuel rail and only remove the screws that hold the rail in place, then just lift the whole thing up.

My 98 Explorer is flooding out . Fuel pump is good and.i just replaced plugs and wires yesterday

How do you know its flooding out? Black smoke from tailpipe? An over fueled engine can be caused by numerous things. Check fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail for an internal leak. Remove the vacuum hose to the regulator and check to see if fuel is in the vacuum hose. IF so, replace the regulator. You will need a scan tool to check the operation of the coolant temp sensor, map sensor, mass air flow sensor as these sensors/wiring circuits will adversely affect fuel delivery

The car is flooding and will not start fouling the plugs replaced coil pack spark plugs and wires also replaced some sensors it still floods and will not start my name is Lawson Cambron

If the engine is flooding the cylinders, you more than likely have a fuel problem, not an electrical problem. You didn't say what kind of car you have or the year, which also matters very much. Are all cylinders flooding or only one? If 1, you have a bad fuel injector, or if it's an older car with a carburetor, the float is sticking inside the carburetor. You may even have a bad fuel pressure regulator. I would imagine the only way it could be electrical is if there's a problem with the computer itself.

02 expedition, drove in rain storm now missing. Coilpack or oxygen sensor?

O2 sensor only regulates minor adjustment of fuel trim, so not likely that. Plug wires, coil, ignition module most likely.

Cause of gasoline flooding in the engine

Here are some causes.

-No Spark
-Bad fuel injector
-bad temp sensor
-faulty MAF sensor
-grounded injector control wire
-to much fuel pressure
-leaking fuel pressure regulator
-bad computer.
-worn out spark plugs
-bad coil, cap, rotor, or wires.

a year, make, model, and engine size will help!

I have a 1996 gmc yukon 4x4 have flood problems I have put in new fuel pump has good fuel pressure changed coolant sensors changed throttle body changed computer plugs wires distributor cap and button coil...

Possibly a busted fuel pressure regulator diaphragm. The regulator is mounted to the end of the fuel rail.
With the engine idling, pull the vacuum line off the regulator port. If gas comes out of the port, replace the regulator.

My 2001 Dodge Dakota is using too much gas.

Are you getting a check engine light? It could be one of the sensors or the fuel pressure regulator. Example: If the coolant sensor is bad and it's tell the computer that engine is cold, the computer will richen the fuel mixture. The O2 sensor sniffs the exhaust if it doesn't like what it smells it might richen the mixture and so on. If the fuel pressure regulator is bad the engine will usually be flooded when you go to start it "hot". Does it start hard when hot, do you have to hold the gas pedal down to get it started when it's hot? If so, it's most likely the fuel pressure regulator. I'm assuming the truck is in good tune, clean air cleaner, spark plugs are good, stuff like that.

My tuck idles low and spits gas out the exhaust

Since you have replaced all those parts already, I would suggest checking out the egr valve. Also I was wondering how the coilpacks or distributor are acting? Is the truck firing on all cylinders? Very possible you have leaky injector also.

Vehicle runs rough and seems to be flooded

Assuming it has a 3.1 V-6, it could be any # of failures. Bad plug wires, ignition coils, control module (under coil packs), crankshaft position sensor, map sensor, throttle position sensor, egr valve, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injectors, engine coolant temperature sensor, vacuum leaks; have it scanned for trouble codes to help in diagnosing! If you think it is just over fueling (flooding),look at fuel pressure regulator or coolant temp sensor ( when they fail the computer thinks its always -40 F causing it to over fuel). A bad map sensor can cause the same. Hope this helps. Thanks in advance for rating me!

I have a 1999 oldsmobile intrigue that is misting a lot. It idels rough, and runs rough. I can still take off it is a little slow, but I can still go pretty fast, but it still mist at the high speeds...

fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail is probably it or the egr valve is stuck open allowing burnt fuel to flood the intake, im leaning towards the fuel pressure regulator because the o2sensor is probably reading rich or if its reading lean then i would choose the egr valve . good luck
