Bank 1 refers to the side of the engine. on a four cylinder there will onlyu be a bank one. a v-6 will have a bank 1 and a bank 2. Bank 1 will be on the same side of the engine as cylinder number one. Bank 2 will be the opposite side. Sensor 1 is always before the catalytic converter. Sensor 2 is always after the catalytic converter.

So , for example, if your looking for Bank1 Sensor2 it will be in the exhaust pipe after the cat on the same side as the number one cylinder.

Where are the o2 sensors located on a 2003 nissan maxima

Modern car engine control systems rely on input from several sensors to regulate the engine's performance as well as its emissions and other vital functions. When these sensors fail to provide accurate information, the driver may experience increased fuel consumption, driveability problems, emission failures, and other problems.

One of the most important sensors in modern cars is the oxygen sensor. Also known as the O2 sensor because O2 is the chemical formula for oxygen, the oxygen sensor monitors how much-unburned oxygen is present in the exhaust as the exhaust exits the engine. By monitoring oxygen levels, the sensor provides a means of measuring fuel mixture.

Where is the oxygen sensor located on a lincoln town car 96

My 96 has 4 cat converters, 2 (upstream and down stream) on each side. There are 2 oxygen sensors on each side, before upstream converter and after upstream converter. But make sure they are bad before you replace them (4 of them will cost you about $200), and my 1996 with 175K has 3 original still running. Other sensors (air flow, coolant temp) might be the problem as well.

Location of the map and oxygen sensors?

MAP is normally on the throttle body. O2 sensors are always on the exhaust pipe, one near where the pipe attaches to the exhaust manifold the other back near the catalytic converter.

2001 Nissan Maxima service engine light stays on code from Auto Zone scanner is PO139 and PO138. What should my next step be to solve this problem.

code p 0138 refers to 2 items
1--heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 2 bank 1--high voltage ==causes --wiring short to positive --HO2S---ECM
2--oxygen sensor (O2S) 2 bank 1--high voltage ===causes wiring short to positive ---ECM
code p 0139 refers to 2 items
1--- heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2 bank 1--slow response ===causes --heating inoperative --wiring--ECM
2--oxygen sensor (o2S) 2 bank 1 slow response ===causes --wiring --- O2S

heated oxygen sensors9HO2S) are in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter
Oxygen sensors (O2S) are after the cat converter
it is indicated that the HO2S is faulty-
check the wiring and /or replace both sensors

Oxygen sensors

Here is the location of the O2 sensor, Under hood, center, lower engine area, rear center of engine, mounted in exhaust manifold

and here is the location of the PVC valve, Under hood, center, upper engine area, mounted in intake manifold

So to your problem there is only one oxygen sensor according to your repair guide. If you need any other info on parts and location you can try Auto Zone .com
