Cheap brake pads and mechanics missing out the Anti-Squeal shims or Copper Slip Grease can cause your problem

You could also try power washing the disks or Rotors as our American readers call them

That will remove any brake dust and will either make the noise go away or get worse.

Make sure that you give them time to dry out before you hit the road , or apply the brakes as you drive off to warm them up

Are you talking about the parking break? If the release won't work, gently press on the pedal with your foot will pulling on the release. At some point it should release.

Hyundai elantra 2006 Squealling but stops when applying breaks.

Easiest way first.....if the belt is squealing (at idle), spray it with belt dressing or WD-40.....if it stops....may be the belt or the bearings in the alternator....if it continues only with driving.....brake wear indicator letting you know...brake job due!

Please let me know if this helps!!!

Brake light on, power brakes seem gone

Chk. for vacume to booster, or loss of vacume like a break in vacume hose, do you hear a hissing noise when you step on break peddel. If you don't hear anything chanses are its the booster. When peddel gets hard to push you either lost vacume or booster went bad.

Air around break petal

It sounds as though the diaphragm on your vacuum assist has ruptured. This will cause a hissing sound and less brake you may also notice a change in the engine idle speed or a rough idle until the hissing stops.
