I found the problem in the steering column, it was a loose plug on the left side. Remove cover and gently wiggle wires till it stalls.

Yes you do. Be careful of the plastic fuel supply line when you reinstall the assembly. The hose can kink, and you will not have fuel pressure.

SOURCE: fuel pump replacement on 2005 ford focus

Are you sure that you need to replace the pump? I drive a 54 plate mk2 1.6 zetec that wouldn't always start and I was told it was the fuel pump in the tank but because the fault was intermitant I didn't have it fitted and found out that the car didn't start because the fuel lift pump wasn't priming the system before starting. I found that there was a faulty connection on the relay for the pump that is in the compartment under the glove compartment.

03 ford focus Starts and run for short period at a time then dies but restarts and again for short time.

If that does not fix it, then it is not the fuel filter but at least a fuel filter is changed and then you get to change out the fuel pump. That sucks.

2005 ranger 3.0 truck starts pump runs presser good pump stops no presser after a few minnits

If you are talking about the fuel pump, you have only a few cheap fixes before blaming the expensive fuel pump. The fuel pump relay can overheat and kick out. A new relay could fix this. Autozone.com offers free fusebox layouts and wiring diagrams just for registering your truck with them for free.

Sometimes the horn relay will interchange with other relays. Look at the part numbers and use the horn to test the fuel pump relay. Or switch the 2 relays.

A fuel filter could be clogged and overloading the fuel pump. Put in a new filter.

After that, its a case of testing the fuelpump leads and see if the fuelpump is shut down.

I hope my solution helps.

Ford focus will not start - ticking over like normal but no fire up. Put on diagnostic and coming up with PO232 Fuel pump secondary circuit - any ideas what to do next ?

you can try this:
It is possible with a P0232 for the fuel pump to be running continuously, even with the ignition off. If that's the case and you can hear the fuel pump running, you may be able to disregard some of the following checks. Turn the KOEO (key on engine off) and wait for a few seconds. This allows the PCM to complete it's fuel pump pre-cycle. Now, using your scan tool (if you have one) observe the FP VOLTAGE FEEDBACK reading in the datastream. This reading indicates what kind of voltage the fuel pump is receiving.
If you don't have access to a scan tool, use a voltmeter to read the FP voltage at the fuel tank. If your reading shows any voltage at all present to the fuel pump with KOEO (or if you can hear the pump running), remove the FP relay. If the voltage remains, or the fuel pump continues to run, then there is a short to voltage on the FP voltage supply circuit or on the feedback circuit. Repair as necessary. If the voltage disappears (or the pump quits running) with the FP relay removed then try replacing the relay with a spare one. Upon reinstalling the spare relay, if the voltage disappears, the relay was faulty due to a short. If, though, after replacing the relay voltage is still present, suspect that the PCM FP relay control circuit is shorted to ground.
Check for a short to ground on the PCM FP relay control (ground driver) circuit by removing the FP relay and ohm between a good ground and the PCM FP relay control. There should be no continuity to ground with KOEO (after the FP pre-cycle is completed). If there is continuity to ground the wire is shorted. Find the short to ground and repair as necessary. If you can find no physical short, It may be necessary to snip the FP relay control wire close to the PCM connector where it will be easy to repair and check for continuity to ground with KOEO coming OUT of the PCM. If there is no continuity the wire is shorted in the harness. But if continuity exists, the driver may be internally shorted to ground and the PCM may require replacement.

Installed new fuel pump, new electronic lift pump, 2 new fuel filters, new glow plugs, and a few new fuel lines. Truck starts and runs ok till it warms up then when putting it in a pull like going up steep...

The next step is fuel flow measurement. your description sounds like fuel starvation...this test focuses on volume over time.

Probably, you would have good flow, that would taper off and no longer be enough, after a short time...

I have a ford focus se zetec 1.6 and have had a contaminated fuel tank i have stripped all the tank down cleaned it put new fuel filter on ect.... and for some reason its not pulling petrol up the lines...

have you plugged the fuel lines in and most important have you plugged the sender unit back in,if you have then it could be the pump as slightest ingression of grit can jam the pump up

Ford focus 1998

My first suggestion is always recurring to a qualified mechanic.
In your particular case there is an issue with Focus fuel pump, and Ford guarantees free replacement in many countries, ask to your local dealer, to find out if you can have fuel pump replaced for free.

If you wnat to DIY, instead, buy the haynes manual, and follow step by step illustrated guide. Fuel pump replacement is not a complex operation.
