I can not find the location of the spark plugs on my 2005 Kia Optima. It's a 4 cylinder.

They are located underneath the coils on top of the valve cover or valve covers if its a V6. You cant see them untill you remove the coils from the top of the valve cover. Look down in the hole and you will see the Spark Plug. Good luck.

How can i change my own spark plugs on my kia optima 2006

If it's a 4 cylinder then you have to remove the "coil pack" from the top of each spark plug. Should be a 10mm socket. then using a long reach spark plug socket, remove the spark plugs. Make sure to set the "gap" of the new ones before you install. Then re install the coil packs and secure them.

If it's a 6 Cylinder then remove the plug wires from the top of the plugs, then smae as above but you will probably use a spark lug socket and a short extension with the rachet, Once again be sure to "gap" the plugs before you install. best to do the plugs ONE AT A TIME, so that you don't mix up the wires.

2004 KIA OPTIMA WON'T START AFTER SPARK PLUGS WERE CHANGES

HI. There are several areas of concern here. I will list them below. Check all areas stated in the list for faults.

Possible cuases:

1. Incorrect firing order set. On the 2.0, 2.4 and 2.7 engines. These engines are equipped with a distributor-less ignition system. This system incorporates a coil pack assembly, along with wire sets. In order for the assembly to fire correctly, the order of the wires must be set to the proper sequence. if not, the engine will not turn over, or start correctly. Make sure your firing order is correct, and make sure you have not placed a particular wire set into the wrong cylinder. I will post a picture of the correct firing order for your engine, below this list, shortly.

2. Incorrect spark plug gapping procedure. If the new spark plugs were gapped incorrectly, this will not allow for proper spark, thus, preventing optimal combustion, due to lack of fire. Check the spark plug gap using a wire gap gauge, and adjust if necessary. The gap should be 0.039-0.043 in. (1.0-1.1mm)

3. Failed coil pack assembly. This will be the worst case scenario. The coil pack supplies the necessary current that fuels each plug. The current is transferred, via wire sets. This will be the culprit if all the above areas are proven to be operational, and in good shape.

4. Failed wire sets. Replace the wire sets if faults are found at the connector at the ignition coil pack, or at the plug boot.

NOTE*
In order to provide the correct firing order for your engine, i will need the engine size and liter information, if possible. Please post this information, asap. Thanks..

CAN/T FIND THE SPARK PLUGS ON A 03 KIA SORENTO

The 2003 Kia Sorento with V6 has the spark plugs located under black plastic covers in the center channel of each cylinder head. Several brackets, cables, and hoses must be moved out of the way to access them. The manifold air intake tube needs to be removed on the right bank.
The left cylinder bank has coil-on-plug assemblies while the right bank has more conventional spark plug caps with sealing assemblies. The coil-packs are held with two 10mm bolts each and are difficult to get to. Use universal-joint sockets and an extension.
