Check the connection wires to the fuel pump and tank, might be a bad connection as both the fuel pump and gauge join at this point.

on my 2004 ram 2500, I had to depress the trip odometer button and turn on the Ignition. all lights on instrument panel will illuminate, continue to hold button in and tach/speedomenter will run full up and back down. once this has completed, the obd codes will be shown in the odometer.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Transmission over heating

sounds like a plugged trans cooler.have it checked for proper flow should be less than 10-15psi if so it needs to be replaced. check to see if the trans cooler lines go into the radiator. if so you will either have to replace the radiator (trans cooler is part of radiator) or buy and install an aftermarket cooler

The one thing that can affect both the gauges and the ignition circuit is the key switch.

Engine will turn over, but will not start. 1/4 tank of gas is the reading on the guage.

Hello. Begin by putting a couple of gallons of gasoline in the tank. It is possible that your gas gauge is not correct and that you are out of gas. Then leave the gas cap off while you start the car. After it is running, then replace the gas cap. Regards, Joe

2001 dodge durrango check gages light comes on why

When the check gages light comes on just after start up usually one or more gages have momentarily not picked up yet. Dodges are famous for this. If the light stays on for more than 10 seconds and all gages are working t could be a faulty sending unit or you may have to get the computer software reloaded at a dealer

My 1996 camaro shuts off while im driving, all the guages go off, but headlights still work. Checked the battery, alternator, changed battery cables. Thought I fixed the problem, but just happened again...

Some problems with the ignition switches are pretty common with GM cars and trucks. With the key in the 'on' position, jiggle the key around and see if you get some erratic gauge operation or a shut-down.

Vehicle: 2000 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.9L, Automatic Transmission, 171,000 miles. Vehicle will stop running, just shut off, after about 10 minutes of driving. Then after 5 minutes of waiting it will start again...

the first suspect is the igniton switch. when this happens, take the ign key and just barlely turn it, either way, not enough to go off/on just a little tweak, it the lights come back on or flicker, that ign switch will need replacement.

Trucks shuts off while driving

I have a 2000 dodge ram. I had the same problem the truck would just stall no matter how fast or slow i was going. It ended up being the crankshaft position sensor. You need to check for codes to find the problem. p0385-p0389 is the crank shaft sensor. It takes about 5 min. to change if thats the problem. On that year you might be able to turn the key to the on position but not starting then off, then on, then off, then on (three times) on the third time leave on and watch the odometer it will flash codes then will say p-done.

Intermitant temperature

Check to make sure your thermostat works right by monitoring the warming up of your engine. With a completely cold engine, start and run the engine for a few minutes, then put your hand on the top radiator hose to monitor if and when it gets warm as the thermostat opens more and more and note the gauge reading( if it works) the top radiator hose should be unbearably hot within 5-8 minutes. If the therm. opens right it should close right aswell, staying open a little while eventhough the radiator may have cooled may be what you are experiencing causing the rapid cooling and is nothing to worry about. The Hose should not get warm very soon after starting the engine. Regarding you gauge, lets take one step at a time, verify proper op. or the therm.
