SOURCE: 2000 ford taurus no heat in car

This is a common problem, Ford garage will charge you about 1000.00 to fix it. It's an all day job for someone who knows what they're doing. I wouldn't recommend this if you aren't familiar with cars. If you still want to go at it, get a book for your car, you will like that much better. It has pictures!

Testimonial: "Rick here:This is what I thought. We removed it and tied it open.Still no heat.160 going in and 157 coming out.Something is screwy in the box.Any ideas"

SOURCE: 2000 Ford Taurus Antifreeze boiling over

hi, the problem you are having is down to one of a couple of problems, now as you state the air blows cold then this points towards the thermostat not opening so this then dont pump the coolant round the engine resulting in the top half of the being hot and the bottom half cold so this is why you only get cold air.

so the first thing you should do is get the thermostat changed.

you also need to bare in mind that the problem could be a damaged water pump this does happen from time to time so check for any signs of water leak where the water pump is by the timing belt, if their is no signs of leak then the thermostat is the likely cause.

you also need to think that as the engine has over heated this could have caused the head gasket to fail so this will need looking at to if after changing the thermostat you have the same over heating problem.

so replace the thermostat as this has clearly gone and then when you re-fill the coolant make sure any bleed screws are undone if you have any on your coolant system usually located in one of the top hoses running around the engine, (not all coolant systems have one as many are self bleeding so dont worry if you dont see any bleed screws) now when you start filling the coolant up make sure you only trickle the coolant in to prevent any air lock building up in the system.

if you are unsure what you are doing then please leave this to someone who has some idea of the kind of work involved in this type of repair

1997 ford Taurus 3.0 6cyl. Has not heat

Empty cooling system and reverse flush the heater core with water hose till water comes out clear. Then reverse procedure till water is clear. Fill system with water and turn car on, while car is running open drain plug and continue to keep radiator full while draining it at the same time turn on your heater with heat on high and blower on high When water is clear flush system and wait for engine to cool down. Refill with antifreeze and turn engine on, check for leaks and to see if you have heat. If still no heat change heat core.Let me know how you make out.

Is there a weephole for oil and one for antifreeze or just one weephole for both on the water pump of 2005 ford taurus

It is very unusual for oil to run from a water pump, but you can get a leak from the grease that lubricates the bearing. If you do have what looks like oil or grease, you probably need a new pump.

Car loses water from overflow cap. Replaced water pump, thermostat and overflow bottle and cap.

Stop me if this has NOTHING to do with your problem (or if it's already been solved)...I don't know a lot about cars so...My Ford Taurus kept overflowing antifreeze from the reservoir cap. Car started to over heat and kept spilling"/dumping" antifreeze every time I turned the car off. The antifreeze reservoir had been replaced less than a year prior, and water pump, radiator, etc looked at. I got a free estimate that stated my water pump was NOT the issue, but I did need a new radiator and my reservoir tank needed to be replaced (again)....$800 parts and labor.... However...I noticed the overflow holes on the tank, and also that the orange liquid (antifreeze), was also spilled around the cap lid. I also noticed the CAP on the antifreeze reservoir would loosen when tightened completely- hence, not sealing correctly. So I went to the dealer, bought a new reservoir cap for $15, replaced it, and never had an issue after! I also found out that the CAP was a DEALER PART ONLY, and when the tank itself was replaced, the CAP was the OLD one! Problem fixed! Maybe it's similar? Or something "more serious".

Heater on 2004 ford tauras stopped getting hot suddenly

check coolant level first and make sure no air trapped in system. Ask shop to use evac/fill equipment to purge air.

cold engine - remove cap & fill radiator with 50/50 mix antifreeze/water. install cap.

fill reservoir 3/4 full. run engine until upper rad hose is hot. let cool and see if it sucks coolant from reservoir. Keep res 3/4 full. repeat.

Need to know what type of antifreeze to put in 1999 taurus

Any anti-freeze is good. But personally I prefer using Prestone. The best kind is the 50/50 already pre-mixed.

Mix 50% water and 50% ethylene glycol antifreeze to protect your car down to -34F. Use up to 70% antifreeze if lower temperatures are expected, but no more; pure coolant does not cool as well as coolant mixed with water.

Problem with my 2000 ford taurus water pump.

I just had that same problem with the antifreeze leaking and I thought it was my water pump but I pulled the antifreeze tank off and it was cracked all along the bottom and that was causing the antifreeze to leak out real bad so I went to a nearby junkyard and found a new tank and replaced the cracked one and now it works just fine with no leaks. I hope this works for you liked it worked for me.
