Is your check engine light 1) Working 2) On? One suspect would be the coolant temp sensor; which tells the computer the ambient temperature so that it can make appropriate fuel adjustments .... though I'm a little unconvinced that it it would have enough effect to cause stauling.

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge Dakota Heater fan motor will not run on low speed. All

Your blower resistor may be wearing out or corrosion setting in. The part is cheap and you can probably replace it. This link shows where an 01 is located. Yours may be in the same spot on on the engine bay side of the passenger firewall. Check with your auto parts store also for location.

SOURCE: 1994 dodge dakota has had cooling system

I am not a fan of back flushing as it tends to put muck in places that are normally free to flow. The system is designed to flow in one direction so if you need a radiator clean out replace the radiator as only the flowing cores will clean .The blocked cores will still be blocked. Run fault codes and look for cooling fan sensor problems . Check that the thermostat is not blocked from gunk as the engine may be heating water -turning on the fans --but the water is not circulating

1998 Dodge Dakota 5.2. It starts and runs great for about 5 miles then stalls.

For 5 miles it is running on choke. Try cleaning the Throttle Body and MAF.

If that doesn't work, you need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer. It can record exactly what goes wrong at 5 miles and diagnose the fault.

It appears to be a known fault

Often times when I turn the wheel all the way weather left or right. and weather in forward or in reverse doesn't matter the truck kills. its a 2001 dodge dakota automatic.

on most power steering pumps there is a single wire idle up switch to compensate for load caused by pump switch is on pump check connection also try to find a clear parking lot drive in slow circle steer all the way see if engine dies while moving at slow speed will use less effort if engine doesnt die then check the p/s idle up switch

My 88 dakota will not stay on!

it sounds like the new idle you put in is set too low so the truck is getting barely enough gas to start and keep running try turning up the air fuel mixture and it should be better hope this helped
