2008 toyota tundra 5.7L Truck's electrical system drained drastically. I replaced the battery, and after one start, it went dead again with in 10 minutes. show very little light. on dash board. Voltage of the new battery showed 13Volts, and car did start after 5-8 second of cranking. Then after I came back from a store where I bought the battery, I tried to start it again and the voltage was gone. What can be the problem. The truck has a viper remote starter. When I tried to start the ruck with it , it did cranked the ignition, 3 times but the truck did not start. That was before I changed the battery. The Viper remote when i pushed the button to close all doors it did not response, just the lights were flashed twice.

Is the alternator charging ok is the first thing to check when you've got the engine running if thats ok i'd disconnect the Viper remote as from your description it could be draining the battery/not working properly put back to original factory spec and run like that for a while then you'll know if its the Viper or not keep me updated

SOURCE: 95 F150 wont crank

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.

SOURCE: Engine won't start. Dash lights flash rapidly when key turned.

the battery says 12 volts but may be dropping to 4 or 5 under a load...i would suggest jumpstarting the car and see what happens.the battery should read in the high 12 volts and not less than 9.5 under cranking. the dash lights go out on your car when starting, and the alarm will go off ,and disable the ignition if the voltage is too low in cranking the car because the computer will shut it down and activate the anti theft.....check your battery posts are tight. best of luck

SOURCE: How do I change the starter in a 2000 Toyota Camry LE

i'm sure it's not the starter itself that is the problem, have the stater's solenoid checked...it might be stucked. It's quite a lot of work removing the starter but you can do it if you are willing enough to learn. You just need the right idea and tools to do it. Hope this will help save you bucks!

to drain a Toyota battery in such a short time the earth wire and/or positive lead would be hot to the touch so you will have a bad short in the power circuit to the starter relay or starter solenoid Check all earth points are good and clean. Ensure that the battery terminals are shiny clean and tight as the heavy drain may be just bad connections and the resistance is to high to get an accurate voltage reading.

2000 tundra door left open batt went dead tried to jump. truck would not start replaced batt still nothing. replaced fuel pump in tank truck turns over but will not crank

run fault codes to find any problems in the CPU/ ECM as jumping a battery incorrectly causes a power surge which generally wrecks the units. If it checks out ok then use the reader to reset the CPU as the program was probably corrupted.

2003 toyota tundra put new battery in but still dead by next morning

Yes I went nuts with the dead battery problem till I found TSB_EL015-03. Seems the frist half of the production year 2003 Tundra has a problem with the tow package relay being left energized if you leave the lights in the daytime running position so that they turn off by opening the door, it will run the battery down.
Toyota knows this, won't do a recall, but there is a kit you can get that is listed in the Technical Service Bulletin EL015-3. When it tell you to use a special tool to remove a pin from the large connector (red) don't bother, you will never get it out. Just cut the red wire and use a crimp tool to splice it to the kit's wire. There is no room to work it, just cut it and splice it.

2008 Toyota Avalon Battery Problem

I doubt this is a smart key problem, the key uses a chip and its own battery. Something in the car is causing a drain, a light is staying on possibly. Trunk light, glove box light, under hood light... maybe you have a portable GPS unit plugging into the auxilary port? Just a thought. This is not a common problem that has been reported by Avalon owners as of yet.
