Get out your voltmeter, unplug the connection to the seat's motor, underneath the seat, and hit the switch. if youve got power going to the motor then youll need to replace the motor. If not, it's probably the switch. Also make sure the wires are not cut or damaged somewhere between the switch and the seat.

Driver seat only moves forward not back. How do I move it backward?

I would first look under the seat and check for an obstruction. My wife's car had this issue a few years back and it turned out that one of my son's baseballs had gotten under her seat. It would still move forward, but would not go back. If that isn't your issue I would have the switch checked. If not the switch then look close at the wires. Wouldn't think it would be the motor, they either work or they don't.

Why does driver side power seat suddenly just move back and forth for only about a 1/4 of an inch?

These devices use motors with worm gears to provide the smooth operation and torque necessary to move the seat. The most common problem, other than the motors themselves failing (and since your does move somewhat, the motor is probably OK), the next biggest issue is something gets caught in the gear drive. Get a good look under the seat and see if there isn't something jamming the forward-backward motion of the seat.

2006 trailblazer driver seat won't move forward or backwards

unfortunately the electric seats from all of the car builders have never been able to fix the problems that plage them since their creation they are known for switchs going out motors and drives failing start by making sure you have power to all of these you will need to trace power from your fuse panel using a test light or volt meter next look check to make sure that the tracks on the seat are free of debri and clean then you will have to take the track apart and check the drive gears and cables to make sure they are not damaged

The driver seat will not go forward

if going backward is working, and foward is not,, easy
,1st determine what is defective-so u know what to replace/repair-2 things only ,[1-switch or 2- motor under d seat]
by presing the backward swicth,, you can hear the sound of the motor running and u can see the seat is going backward...
1-now by pressing the foward switch, and you hear the motor running but not that strong like the rear ..and the seat move an inche /a little and stop,,.then u have a defect weak motor,
2- now by pressing the foward swicth and u dont hear any motor running then the switch is most likely defective
defective switch -repair- spray contact cleaner, remove cover switch, penetrate inside
defective motor-repair-remove motor replace inside carbon,,.chiepest way not to spend to much money..
i suggest even once a month,lubricate all power seat/even not powerseat/,door hinges/.trunk door/.power antenna./ .by spraying lubricating oil,. for maintanace,..you can save a lot..

Before you do any of the expensive things disconnect and reconnect the wiring to the seat I had the same exact problem with my 2009 Chevy Impala and was ready to take it to the dealer when I disconnected the power cables to it and reconnected them I found that one of the Harnesses was loose and the problem was solved

Everything works on the power seats except unable to move seats forward and backward

There are usually 3 motors for power seats, 1 to tilt the seat, 1 to raise and lower the seat, and 1 to move the seat back and forth. I would think that motor is bad. Check for any obstuctions to the seat track.

My front seat will not move forward. It will recline, move up and down but it will not move forward. I've tried reseting the seat positions but nothing seems to work. my seat wont move forward is there a...

You can move the drivers seat back by turning on the power, getting in the seat and position your feet firmly on the fron flor with your back firmly against he seatback, and then engage the switch pushing back - while pushing like hell with your feet. You can actually hear the seat drive shaft turning while the seat moves back. The principle should be the same for moving forward, but pressure would have to be aplide to the back of the seat.
