Transmission solenoid 2002 gti 1.8t ..automatic.transmission rebuilt. Runs fine one day, then the next it won't shift out of 1st gear. We've started it in second and shifted as we went along, popping it back into drive. After a little while it runs fine. What's your suggestion? Not looking to sink a ton of money into this again.

SOURCE: Transmission won't shift fron 1st, 2nd or 3rd correctly!

I'm no expert but it sounds as if you might have some moisture (water) contaminating your tranny fluid. I'd first try having it drained, flushed and refilled with fresh fluid. Preferably after it has been warmed to room temperature - -2 brrr.

SOURCE: Where is transmission solenoid located on 1995 vw jetta !!!!

need to know if a 1995 jetta vr6 automatic transmission has to be set by a computer when re installing. also do you need a computer when adding trans fluid. what type of trans fluid do i put in an automatic jetta vr6 trans.
This trans slips and does not go int gear. It goes forward in all gears including when in neutral and reverse.

SOURCE: Automatic transmission won't shift into drive

Check automatic transmission fluid using dipstick, if fluid is low the automatic g/box tend not to shift properly. If the fluid level is fine you probably have an internal gearbox problem or a sensor problem (see a mechanic).

Rebuilt 1987 Toyota pickup auto won't shift out of 1st gear

Hi,

Please check for worn clutch, old transmission fluid/stuck solenoid.

These seem to be the most common causes of these issues.

Thank you.

Dodge Ram 3500 skips from 1st to 3rd gear, had rebuild after still the same issue. Any advice?

Governor pressure controls the 1st and 2nd shifts. After that is the 3 and 4 solenoids. you would need to look at the pressure when driving(takes a scanner). pressure is 20 to 30 PSI from 1st to 2nd, depends on acceleration. After that the pressure will jump to 100+ psi. Did you replace the governor solenoid and sensor? They are on the passenger side of the transmission and sit in a block that detaches from the valve body.

Vehicle not shifting

Have you retrained the gear? From memory think goes motor running foot firmly on brake park to neutral three times, neutral to reserve three times, neutral to drive three times, keep going thru all gears Then drive car normal for ten minutes minium as you usually would.

You need a transmission shift solenoid. Copy and paste this link

AUTOMATIC TRANS

on automatic transmissions Ok,1st check the transmission fluid level if low or if any at all, 2nd you might check your trans shift solenoids, or the wiring to the solenoids verify which solenoid you might need to replace by google it can show you a location of the 2nd and 3rd. If this doesn't cover the issue the next step is a tech to work on the transmission cause it could be and internal issue.

Transmission does not shift in the third and fourth gear

Well could be a couple of different things wrong.
If it is an automatic transmission could be the pressure solenoids in the transmission. or some thing is broken in the gears.
If it is a standard it could be the synchro gears inbetween that let you shift into the next gear.
Needless to say unless you are a transmission mechanic, take it to the transmission professionals and they will tell u if it can be fixed or depending on the hours for labor, or if u really need your car, you can have a rebuilt transmission installed in about 2 days. Rebuilding yours could take up to a week depending on the experience of the mechanic. I have worked on standard transmissions but I wouldnt even try an automatic.
I had a rebuilt automatic put into my chev pickup in under a weekend for 1300 bucks, but I had a shift kit installed as well while I waited lol.
hope it helps

Transmission promblem

Assuming you have an automatic transmission, I would check the transmission fluid level. If low, you need to identify where the fluid is leaking. Probable locations are transmission pan, or the cooler lines to the radiator.
If this has only begun to happen your transmission will probably be ok. If it has been happening for a while then you will probably be looking for a new transmission.
There is also one other possibility. If the check engine light is on and the codes read something in the area of "transmission control solenoid" or "shift solenoid" then you will need to have those replaced.
