1994 Chysler Concorde, engine turns over, no fire, asd relay

Yes, there is an auto shutdown relay in the relay/fuse box under the hood. According to test light, the asd relay is not energizing. After exchanging relays with another of the same chrysler part number, there is still no asd relay energization. What could be the problem if the relay itself seems to be OK. Drove home, parked car, next morning, no start (fire).

SOURCE: 2002 Chrysler Sebring will not start

Mine did the click, click and the timing chain had snapped. If any of you have 2.7 litre engines plan on an engine rebuild or a replacement. Look up the 2.7 engine size along with oil sludge and timing chains. Grab yourself a towel to sop up the tears. This car is 100% garbage and I'm shopping for another non Chrysler product this week.

SOURCE: 94 dakota 5.2 - no spark - auto shut down relay not energized

Hello this is a feature to stop the engine and exhaust system from filling up with gas when spark is lost! years ago fuel would be delivered as usual and you Eng and converter would be full of gas real hazard back then!!!!now they built into computer when spark fails fuel automatically shuts off safety feature??? or not? so i would start to test coil this is a good place to start and if you have engine light on plug in OBD 2 scan tool to retreve the fault hope this helps you out and if you do not have a proper spark tester tool i would invest in one most auto parts stores usually carry them!!! $15-$30 dollars usually.John

Sounds like a short maybe. maybe the wire completely broke? if you know a technician, see if the fuel pump is even getting power when key is on

Code p1389 on dodge ram 1500 slt 5.9 liter replaced computer due to p0601 now this code still doesn't start so where is it located?

The Auto Shutdown (ASD) Relay is designed to cut off your engine in case of an accident or rollover.

The PCM controls the ASD and I'm thinking that the new PCM isn't programmed properly.

This relay should be in the fuse box under your hood

My 98 dakota wont fire

Check your Automatic Shutdown Relay in your fuse and relay box under the hood by the battery. The power supplied to the fuel pump, ignition coil, fuel injectors,  and parts of the power module is controlled by the logic module through the Automatic Shutdown Relay (ASD); the idea is to shut off fuel pressure and the ignition systems when the key is turned off to prevent fires, dieseling, and other problems.
The ASD relay is closed (allowing power to flow through it) when the ignition is first turned on. If the signal from the ignition reference is lost while the engine is running, the logic module cuts power to the ASD, which in turn removes power from the fuel pump, ignition coil, injectors and those parts of the power module.  This causes the engine to shut down.

The logic module monitors the relay driver.  If it senses that the relay driver is not responding correctly it will trigger a code. If the logic module does not sense an absence of current when the circuit is open, or 12 volts DC when the circuit is closed, it knows that the circuit is open or shorted, and triggers code 42. Failure of the automatic shutdown relay is often shown as inexplicable stalling or refusal to start. Good luck and hope this helps lead you in the right direction. Hint: The ASD can be triggered by a broken wire or short in another place, e.g. the fuel pump.
