First check the transmission fluid level. Add fluid if needed. If you still have the problem, then the clutches are worn out. Transmission would need to be rebuilt.
Time to change the power steering fluid. Some cars use power steering fluid, while other cars use transmission fluid. Do not use the wrong fluid in your car or you will have even bigger problems.
hello ron....no. that is a transmission fluid. The recommended power steering fluid for your vehicle is Amsoil synthetic universal power steering fluid. about $7.00 per quart. Joe
The power steering light (indicator) works the same as the brake light (indicator). It could be as simple as low power steering fluid. Check the fluid level and add if needed. Also, start the engine and check the hoses around the steering pump and check for leaks. Usually, it is just a low fluid indicator. Please, let me know the outcome. Thanks.
how do you know its low then? it's there in the engine compartment, its usually set in a small black plastic box towards the front off most engines because its run by the serpentine belt, so follow the belt on your car it rolls right over the power steering unit. it"ll have a circular knob with small half moon cuts on the outside to make it easier to grip, and right on the top, in yellow writing, it'll say power steering fluid only! Hydraulic fluid or transmission fluid, dont put brake fluid in there..always in a pinch you can pour transmission fluid in. Now if its leaking i highly recommend "Lucas" stop leak power steering fluid, but only to top it off dont poor in the whole bottle at once because this stuff works too good! and could lock up your steering. Everytime its low just top it off again. can you rate my answer.thank you.
You can use Dexron III Automatic Transmission Fluid, such as Castrol Import Multi Vehicle. Pump off as much of the old fluid as possible with the pump from a shampoo bottle top, then add the ATF fluid. Don't overfill.
Make sure that your vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool before you check fluid levels. Power steering fluid and other fluids read at different levels when warm instead of cool. Locate the power steering fluid reservoir. It is located under the hood of your Toyota Corolla on the passenger side next to the engine. The reservoir is connected to the power steering pump. Remove the cap and use the dipstick to check the fluid level. For the most accurate reading, clean off the dipstick with a rag first, then re-insert and remove for the fresh reading. Add automatic transmission fluid or power steering fluid approved for use in Toyota vehicles if the fluid is below the low level mark. Add fluid gradually to keep for over filling the reservoir. this will help.thanks.
