2007 cobalt: front speakers stopped working in 2009 (replaced them); wipers work in one mode only (around the same time as speakers); now car is having issues firing correctly. misses the first fire. ran diagnostics, codes are not coming up for the problem. All recalls have been performed. I read someone at the GM plant had mistakenly placed cylinders for an Impala into some of the2007 and 2010 Cobalts. not sure if this is true but if it is, could it be the problem? car is in great condition with low miles. stick shift, no power windows...

IS IT POSSIBLE YOU GOT A WIRE CROSSED? or a plug is cracked and or gap closed up? i would check these. you have the 5.3? what kind of plugs are you running?

I have an 05 Cobalt that just experienced the same problem. I had my door panels off and my speakers appear to be dead.

If you have a multimeter, you can pull the speaker out and test to see if you get resistance across the two terminals. It should say on the speaker what the resistance should be (most likely 4 ohms). If you get no reading, you most likely will have to replace the speaker.

You could also test for AC voltage on the speaker wires. When the stereo is on, and set to a reasonably loud value, you should get a few volts. If you don't get any reading at the door, it may be either the wiring or the stereo. To determine which it is, you will have to take readings at the stereo output.
