Firing order should be 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 with number one being front passenger side and number 5 being front driver side. If the firing order is off it should backfire.

for the 1993 probe i could only find a 2.5 V6. there are two banks of cylinders, odd and even. in other words as you stand in front of the vehicle the odd bank is toward the firewall, the even bank is closest to you. the number one cylinder is on the passenger side toward the firewall and firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6. hope that helps
