1997 fordexplorer 5.0 awd #3 misfire

I had the misfire in the #3, so i changed the plugs and wires, left coil pack, still the mis, then changed the fuel injector,and a bad polution tube. wow the truck ran better than when i bought it.... for two days, now it is missing on the #3 agian. there r no loose wires,no melted wires i changed the #3 plug with new. what do i look at next? timming or maybe soloid if you can help thx

Change the coil that's the only thing you did not change and a coil if it's weak will cause a miss fire. You can do a compression check on #3 also. If timing was out the truck would be missing like crazy. Change the coil pack.

2000 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3. Misfire on 2 cylinders?

The misfire code only tell you that, unfortunately it doesn't tell you why. When swapping parts to test theories, only swap one thing, one cylinder to one cylinder and only one item, the coil, the plug or the wires, not all three. What was the make of the Crankshaft Sensor? Only buy quality OEM replacements as there is a history of bad ones from Mexico and China.

Wouldn't hurt to check the wires again. This has a neat diagram.

I have a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo 2.6L cylinders 2 & 3 won't fire after vehicle starts but will fire if I unhook cylinder 1 or 4 what will cause this

so you have 2 coil packs. ????
called wasted park
seems you typed the displacement wrong, !!! 2.2L is 4 banger...
1 and 4 fire as a pair
2 and 3 , fire as a pair , in series

so if the spark wires open , you loose a pair,
say #1 opens, you loose #4 with it.
they are wired in series.
if one spark wire grounds out , you lose only THAT spark plug.
but why would you get the odd pack to pack cross talk.
(assumes you have the HV wired right. correct?)
the packs cant be wired up willly-nillly.
this is the 2.2L coil pack.
and IS wasted SPARK system. for sure.
and can not be mixed up
the PCM is hard coded for 1,3,4,2 firing order.
and must be wired right. did you meddle here?
if you unplug the 2 one right , this must not make the 2 on left work.
pulling 1 wire, only kills the adjacent wire. normal.
see the pairs there, at the bottom see those hiddencoil packs mail coils molded to case?
if you are wired right and you have cross talk from 1/4 to 2/3 bank
the pack is bad.

I have a 97 Ford Explorer AWD 8 cylinder. Check engine light comes on and I get code p303. Vehicle bucks at times, uses lots of gas. Believe it may be 02 censor, spark plugs and wires tested ok. Any Idea

code says #3 cylinder misfire, check the coil pack for this cylinder to see if its got spark, bad o2 sensor will spit another code, its most likely the coil

My engine is stalling and it shakes too much i put new spark plugs and wires and it stills run rought. what can it be?

what about the coil pack? If you changed wires and plugs you should also change the coil pack which controls spark to all the plugs. Make sure you put the right wires on the right plugs.

I need a spark plug wireing diagram for a 1997 ford f-150 4.6 liter v-8?

Sitting in the drivers seat, drivers side is the Left side, passenger side is the Right side.

From the Front of the engine going towards the rear,

Right side: 1, 2, 3, and 4

Left side: 5, 6, 7, and 8.


Front of the engine, RIGHT side coil pack. Two spark plug towers in Front.
Left side is Number 5. Right side is Number 1

Front of the engine, RIGHT side coil pack. Two spark plug towers in Rear.
Left side is Number 3. Right side is Number 6.

Front of the engine, LEFT side coil pack. Two spark plug towers in Front.
Left side is Number 8. Right side is Number 4.

Front of the engine, LEFT side coil pack. Two spark plug towers in Rear.
Left side is Number 2. Right side is Number 7.

I have a 1997 ford explorer awd 5.0 and it had a misfire in #3

Could be a bad valve, carbon, etc... i.e. something inside the motor.

First thing to do is double check your parts. Swap the coils from one side to the other. Reset the light an drive. if it comes back as a Cyl 3 again then its probable a inside the engine if everything else outside has been replaced.
