I want to put a new stereo in and dont know what the colors of the wires in the van go to

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Has the factory harness that plugged into the back of the factory stereo been cut? If they havent you just need to go to a local walmart or stereo store and get a install kit that plugs into your factory harness and then every wire will match your new stereo.

If you are replacing the factory radio just get a wire adapter, wire it to you radio and plug in. I don't recommend any other way unless someone already cut the plug. If so just stop at your usual mechanic and ask for a wire diagram I know I would give one to my customers.

I have a 2001 ford focus se and the previous owner had a stereo just taped together with the wires from the car . The wires are just sticking out and i bought a new one and i need to know what the colors...

a reputable car stereo place will sell you a wiring harness for your vehicle and after market stereo, that tells you which color wires to hook to what.

I have a toyota trueno 1992 and i want to put a new stereo in it

Go to the auto parts store and get a wire adaptor made for a 1992 trueno. It will plug into your factory harness. The wire colors are prematched to your sony and other aftermarket stereos. Just match the wire colors, splice with connectors making sure no wires are exposed. (A little electrical tape for good measure around splices helps). Then it just plugs in. If your factory stereo has mounts that screw onto the radio, unscrew them and attach them to the sony. Remove sleeve from radio and discard. The screw holes are already on the sony.

Im putting n a stereo but i dont no the color code

The stereo side of the wires should be labeled. Check out the12volt.com for a wiring schematic for the truck side. I advise against cutting and splicing wires for a stereo installation though. They make inexpensive harness adapters that will allow you to splice into the stereo harness without cutting into the factory wiring.

Wire harness dont know how to hook up radio cause colors dont match up

If your puting in a aftermarket stereo system, they make adapters that will plug into the factory harness and have a diagram of what to hook up to your new stereo. They should have one of these at a stereo store or even auto parts or Wal Mart. I had to put one in my 89 Caravan and 88 Prelude. I got them from the local stereo store and they were about $12 bucks or so. Depends on how much your stereo place overcharges.

Hope this works for you....

Hooking up a new stereo

Go by a stereo shop and get an adapter for your car. It connects all of the correct wires to the aftermarket radio without damaging or removing wires from old connector.
