My brake lights are not lighting up when I apply the pedal. I have changed the fuse, the brake light switch, and the pigtail connector to the brake light switch. My tail lights illuminate fine, I just have no brake lights... Any suggestions?? I am desperate!!!
-Bulb is good...?
-If so check the push in (On/Off switch) Just above the brake pedal arm. It might be stuck. If it's not stuck, replace new one.

I encountered the same problem. I noticed on the driver side floor that there were a couple of small broken pieces of black plastic. The pieces of plastic crumbled off and are spacers that sit o the brake pedal lever. The make contact with the brake light switch as well as one that makes contact with a switch that activates the release on the automatic transmission. I fabricated to small rubber grommets to the same thickness and glued them to the same location and the problem was solved. I accessed this by removing the lower fascia/plastic body component to gain better access to the area. In all the fix took about ten minutes. Good luck.

Yes. Because the switch use a individual wire to the 3rd light.
To separete from the rear. because the rear lights, use the same bulb to signal and brake light.

check the brake light switch.
It's usually up under the dash, and it activated by the brake pedal.
There are 2 wires going to it. To test it, jumper across the leads.
or, watch the "action" sometimes you just need to reposition the switch to get it to work.

The hole in the pedal arm is for the cruise control. There is a plastic plug that needs to be in place to turn off the brake lights. They should be available at any dealer - there is also one for the clutch pedal arm in manual trans. These are required for the cruise as well as to turn off the brake lights. I bet that several will now be able to have their cruise back.

I replaced the switch less than a year ago. Do you think it could possibly be bad already? I just replaced all the bulbs in the rear of my car. My brake lights and tail lights are the same bulbs. All tail lights illuminate when I turn on the lights.... just no brake lights when I press the pedal. How would I test the pigtails to make sure they are getting power?
To clarify, I mean the pigtails that connect to the brake light switch :)
