No spark 1987 gmc 305 v8

Have replaced distributor and coil with new but still no spark. Was running when parked but would not start the next day. Determined no spark by in line spark testro. Replaced distributor and coil with new. Still no spark. Could it be crankshaft sensor or is there any other test for finding the problem.

Could be ignition control module. It is probably located on distributor. It is a black odd shaped object with like 2 or 3 plugs on it. Take it to an autozone and have it checked

It may be the brain of the jeep. if they get condensation in them from the rain , they can act as you described. It is only about a $30 part @ Pep Boys. It looks like a box with 2 or sometimes 3 plugs coming off of it and it plugs up to the wiring harness, and it mounts on the firewall or the inside fender-wall of your jeeps engine compartment.

Testimonial: "Thank you! I've replcd the ignition coil n battery. Won't start! Now, no fuel to engine. Still seem like it's the brain or PCM, ASD Relay or Fuel Pump?"

check your catalytic converter for clogged up.
disconnect the exhaust pipe before the cat and run the engine to see if it still cut off.
if it run better, then that's the problem

I have a 1987 chevy S10 4x4 xcab pickup . it just died one day i rebiult the TBI and put a new computer in it and new coil in . Have checked all the fuses . and it will not start .do you know what i

Check if you have spark (coil or ignition problem) Next consider what you did when rebuilding the TBI as there may be parts that will only operate in one way or settings that have to be adjusted. Lastly is the new ECM compatible with the system (immobiliser) Use a scanner to reset the ecm program

My 98 gmc 1500 V8 5.0l won't start. Has good spark

Spray starting fluid into the air intake of the engine, if it starts and you have fuel pressure you have no injection or injector pulse as we call it. Check ECM fuse one and two for continuity if it starts with fluid..

Not getting any spark with 1998 Suburban K2500 5.7 Had an issue with the battery the other day. Died on me in a parking lot. Tried jumping but would not start. Put a new battery in the next day and all...

Check the Ignition Control Module. Usually these are mounted in the base of the distributor - the distributor wire harness plugs into it. If you already changed that, then I would have the ECM ( Engine Control Module ) tested. I really hope it is the ICM - they are much cheaper than the ECM!!
Good luck and I hope this helps!!

Engine won't start

even if you have spark, it may not be "good spark"

Try cleaning the contacts to the coil, or replace the coil itself.

May have pinched or cut a wire by mistake during the work you have done. Check all for proper grounding as well
