SOURCE: door sags 1996 buick

If you have to lift up on the door and or close it hard--likely a bad hinge --each door has two and you can look into replacing the whole hinge or there are kits with the pin and bushings that can be used to repair a hinge.

Driver door would be most common if car that age and you may just need one of the two hinges replaced/repaired.

Driver side door sags.

If your door sags it means the bushings in the door hinge are worn out, but there is a way to adjust it without replacing the hinges if they aren't too bad. If you open your door there are bolts that attach the door hinges to the A-Pillar, most of the time they are accessable from the outside. First get a car jack and position it under middle edge of the open door, put a small piece of wood on the jacking point to protect the door. Loosen the bolts to the hinges and raise the jack so it raises the door up. tighten the bolts on the hinges back up and open and close the door to determine if the door was raised enough to eliminate the sagging.

Driver door sags, and is hard to close

Door pins and bushings are a common part to wear out on a lot of the GM's. Have someone lift end of door for you while you watch where hinges and pins are. Not an expensive or overly difficult task, if your mechanically inclined, otherwise, a bodyshop, or mechanic, shouldn't charge any more than a half hour to replace them.

Door sag

Hello, you need to replace the hinge pins and bushings. Just take a hammer and knock the hinge pins out and put the new pins with bushings in the hole and tap it into place. Some vehicles have a locking ring on the bottom of the hinge pin just knock it off with your hammer and a screwdriver. They don't have to be replaced but, if you want the dealer sells those too. Good luck and any questions please ask.
