You can not drill thru a broke drill bit,it is hardened
steel.

Have to try & chip it out first

If you get to a point where you have drilled some & have
a hold on it, heat the spot some & try a short left hand drill bit
to turn it out

They are avail at tool supply stores

How can I take off a broken bolt out of the thermostat housing? On a 2008 Ford Edge. Or how do I tak2 off the thermostat housing?

You have 3 choices. Have the car towed to a shop with the tools to remove the bolt, buy a replacement manifold and install, or buy a few tools and remove the bolt yourself.

Sears and others sell bolt extraction bits. You can use the remaining bolt to size the needed replacement. The remaining bolt is also useful to determine depth so you do not drill into a water passage. Once you determine depth some mechanics will use a socket or something to fit around the drill bit to limit the depth the drill bit can travel. You would then need to drill out a hole in the busted bolt so you can fit the extraction tool inside the newly drilled hole.

Sometimes it is smart to buy an extra drill bit or 2 in case you snap what you are using. Then you may consider that you are doing what you pay a mechanic to do. If this messes up the mechanic will still charge you for a manifold and labor to replace.

This can be a little repair with skill and luck or escalate into more. There has to be a reason for the bolt to fail, perhaps someone used Locktite on the threads at last repair.

How do i remove a broken harmonic balancer bolt in my 1999 mitisubisii montero sport

are we talking about one of the small bolts that hold a belt pully onto the balancer? Or the large bolt in the middle that holds the balancer to the crank? Either one will be the same procedure, but if it is a small bolt and proves troublesome to get to, you can always remove the balancer and take it to a machine shop to aide you in the removal. If it is the main bolt in the crank shaft you will have to do it in place.
You will need a good sharp center punch and hammer to ding the exact center of the broken bolt. Then a good drill bit and drill set on slow (you drill too fast and you generate too much heat you just accomplish work hardening the broken bolt and dulling the bit.) anyway, you will also need a bolt extractor. Make sure your drill bit is the right size for the extractor and the extractor is the right size for the bit. Punch the dead center of the bolt and start drilling you will want some high temp oil to lube the bit and keep it cool while drilling, you also need to make sure that you hold the drill at a right angle and keep it straight all of the way in until it is deep enough for the extractor to grab the inside of the hole you have made. Strike the extractor solidly with your hammer to set it and cross fingers that when you try to back the broken bolt out it moves. If this fails you might need to completely drill the hole larger and install an insert, or heli-coil to repair the hole.

My head bolt broke in the cylender block how can u help me to get it out

It all depends on how exactly your bolt was damaged.

1. Bolt head slots were cut off. In this case, you need a bolt and nut extractor. It looks like a nut socket with a special tapered spiral design.

How to use - Put the head of the appropriate size on the bolt and turn it counterclockwise.

2.The bolt head is completely broken off and part of the threaded bolt is stuck in the hole. Then you need a metal drill bit and screw extractor. In the store, you can buy a set, where there are both drills and extractors of different sizes at once.

How to use - The first drill a hole in the bolt. Then insert the extractor into the hole and turn it counterclockwise.

How to get a broken drill bit out of the crank pully shaft ona 95 Dodge Neon???

Unfortunately you might be in need of an expert. Drill bits are hardened, unlike your crank shaft. A machinist is usually well versed in broken bolt removal and they might just have an ultrasonic extractor. Getting a broken off hardened anything in usually not something I would recommend to the un-experienced.

How do you change the 1998 audi a4 quattro cylinder head bolt. One of mine broke.

They make extractors that you could try and use to remove it you have to drill a little hole and then insert the removal tool, but they make different kinds. Worse case would be have to remove the head and hope that there is enough bolt left to get vise grips or something else clamped on tight enough to remove the bolt. Or the bolt will have to be drilled out and the hole re-tapped. This last step should not be attempted by a novice, but can be done successfully.

I have a 94 jeep cherokee sport & 3 bolts have broke off on the motor on the passenger side, the motor mounts are fine, but can you tell what is the detailed work for this jeep to be fixed? I asked...

Before going radical and removing the engine, I'd take a good look at it and see if you can either use a short drill motor to fit in there by removing a few things in your way or, to see if you can cut through the inner fender well and use a long drill extension to get to the broken bolts.
Though the bolts still in the block may be a bit rusted, tension on the bolts is established by the head of the bolt pulling back on the threads. Since there is no head they may come out easily using a reverse twist drill bit (craftsman used to sell a small kit and I'm sure someone else does too)
As you drill, the heat generated by drilling will help loosen the bolt end and most times it will begin to back out as you drill. If not, you can still tap a new thread when you finish.
Worst case, you may need to disconnect the opposite mount and jack the engine up a bit to get clearance.

I was attempting to replace my thermostat adn i broke both stems to the thermostat HELP!!!!!!!!!!

That's because of corrosion. It happens!

The broken studs have to be cut, or ground down flush, with the thermostat housing. Then a center punch is used to make a deep dimple, in the center of the broken stud.

Next use a small drill bit to make a pilot hole.
Two times smaller than the stud. (Bolt)
Use caution, as you don't want the drill bit to walk off to one side. Keep the drill level, and vertical.

Now come back with a larger drill bit, but one that is smaller than the stud/bolt, and will stay away from the threads. Try to drill at least one-half inch in depth. Use an Easy Out, bolt extractor.

If it feels as though the Easy Out bolt extractor, is being forced too much, and you think there is a possibility of it breaking, STOP!
Use a drill bit that is large enough, to drill a hole that will not touch the threads. Then work a small chisel along the outside edges of the bolt 'Shell', and work that thin shell to the inside. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to try to extract the shell out. One piece at a time.

(After you have drilled the center of a stud, or bolt, out to where the threads are, there is a thin metal shell left behind)
