Either the wire or the bulb is at fault. The panel where the light is mounted needs to be accessed to test which.

SOURCE: service ingine soon its not the power steering.

Most of the time this lite goes off based on mileage. usually oil change is very near or overdue. depending what year you hit gas 3 times and hold unti it goes away, after Key on engine off. engine cannot be running and wait for chime to stop. make sure doors are closed as well.

SOURCE: wont pass smog check check engene light is on

Take it to a shop and have the car scanned for the codes. This will tell you exactly what is wrong. They usually do it for free and only takes ten minutes. It is most likely a sensor or an egr problem.Cant really know until you get the codes. Good luck.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Chev.

What code is popping up with the light. If you don't know what I'm talking about, take it to Autozone or a place like it. They will hook a code reader up for free and give you a print out f the code. Let me know what this is, it normally starts with Pxxxx.

SOURCE: traveling at 60 mph for five minutes my engine service light comes on.

You may have a partially plugged fuel injector or a vacuum leak. In addition, do a compression check on the engine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to tune up a 1995 Geo Prizm? not passing smog, They told me to tune up and get new cataylic converter, but wont guarantee it will pass smog test.

A tune is just replacing the spark plugs every 100,000 miles and the air filter every 30,000, clean oil is also a help in passing smog, the new converter is what will most likely do the trick.

I purchased a car and the registered owner told me because the car was legally registered I would not need to smog the vehicle

Check all vacuum lines, egr and Pcv vlv and all the other junk that doesn't look like it belongs there. If you hear a hissing, it's a loose vacuum line.
Need to know why light is on but you could just disable it.

What happens when the catalytic converter goes out

YOUR ENGINE STRESSES ALOT AND OVERHEATS BURNS FUEL LIKE CRAZY, DOESNT HAVE POWER, BACK FIRES IF REALLY BAD. DOESNT ACCELRATE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON,.. WONT PASS SMOG BUT MOST MAJORLY WILL CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGED IF KEEPED ON RUNNING.

Prerunner wont pass smog due to engine service light

Not positive on this so consider only. The o2 sensor is what actually tells everything else what is going on with emmission and everything else adjusts to what info it relays. The o2 is also subjected to extreme temps and cooling cycles. So, instead of spending money on no answer diagnostism give replacement of o3 sensor so consideratio. If you choose to replace, wd40 and let exhaust cool down. Good Luck.

Check ingin light is on what does that mean it just had a smog and it passed. the light came on and doesnt go off what should i do .

There is a diagnostic box under the hood (black little box) inside connect te to e1 with a paper clip and then turn key on and it flash trouble codes with the check engine light count the flashes to come up with the code. Example - - - - - - - would = code34 once you get the code post it and we can help fix the problem.
