My 2000 ford f-150 pick up has a battery problem. it is a new battery but when the truck sits for 2 days the battery dies. when charging the battery inside the truck i can hear a clicking noise. i pulled the fuses until the clicking stopped. it is fuse #15. the book says the 5amp fuse controls the stop lamp switch, pcm module, gem module, and rabs test connector. one at a time i disconnected the plugs on the stop lamp switch, abs, and put the fuse back in to see if the clicking noise went away to try and eliminate each one as the problem. all 3 did not work. when i did it to the pcm the clicking went away and when i plugged the pcm back in and put the fuse in it the clicking noise went away altogether. did i possibly reset the pcm module and it is fine now?

Of course it is possible.
Disconnecting the battery would have done the same thing. Sometimes holding the disconnected terminals together resets computers. I believe it empties the internal capacitors.
You did a great job of narrowing it down. Unfortunately the ecm is connected to a lot of things and like the person b4 me said you can find out exact parasitic draw by hooking up an ammeter in series with either battery terminal. Jeff also was correct in suggesting you find the device that clicks next time. You can use a vacuum hose from AutoZone held to your ear for that. We use a stethoscope.

Where was the clicking noise coming from ? Could be a relay the PCM controls . It's possible it will do it again but you never know . If the battery dies again do a parasitic draw test . Improved Methods to Find Parasitic Draw Battery Drains Overnight

SOURCE: battery drains in a few days.

Disconnect the pos while running- if it still runs the alternator is working to run it. If not get the alt diodes tested, it is possible it is causing a drain while sitting. If it is working, check to see if it is overcharging because that can cause the battery to break down- "sulphate"' the plates and cause an internal short that will drive you crazy trying to find the short in an automobile component. If you just make short trips you could just be not charging it enough do deep cycle it. Have the batt tested- its usually free after all. In my part of the country I've never seen a modern 8yr batt last longer than 3 1/2 years, so don't assume it's good.

Another problem is you might have an internal short

I have replaced the battery and alternator on my 1991 Dodge ram 150 pick up and the motor still dies on its own when running and the battery loses its charge. What could be the problem?

If the battery is dying or losing it's charge when the engine is running then the alternator or wiring is defective so it's not charging the battery.

Battery light on ! alternator isn't charging . I can jump start matiz and it will run fin but after it sits for a day battery goes flat again. I have tested what charge is coming out and it is only 13 on idle but as soon as the revs pick up it jumps to...

It would seem that your battery is not holding a charge and needs replacement as the voltages you specify seem correct. The local battery dealer will be able to load test the battery and also test the charging system, usually free of charge.

New Battery + Possible Parasitic Drain + Weird Problems

Many new batteries will come with bad cells from the factory. If you just purchased this, I would definately try returning it asap. As soon as you get the new one, immediately hook it up to the charger to see if you have the same results. I have heard of others who have gone through two bad (new) batteries before getting a good one.

How do you check if altenator is charging battery,

Most vehicles if you get the car running and unhook the positive battery cable it will stay running that is because it is running off the alternator. if it dies like your talking about I would most definitely say your alternator needs to be replaced. Most likely when you jumped your father in laws pick up there was a bad ground somewhere and your alternator got a surge of electricity and it fried it. Hope this helps.
