tests have been done and both check out it runs for about 15 or 2o minutes if the battery is charged

I have found the fuse 175 Amp and its good.Is there any fuseable links or sensors in the wiring before it connects to the alternator? The reason i ask is that i took the battery and alternator to the parts place to have them checked out.

The vehicle only runs for 15-20 mins. on a fully charged battery?

Shut everything off, record battery voltage, vehicle not running.

Start car & record battery voltage & report back with results please.

I am assuming the output voltage of alternator has been checked on the vehicle with it running and load on it, as in headlights, heater etc, on? So how long does it go before it dies? Has anyone done a current draw test on battery while it's in the car?

THERE WILL BE A WIRE FUSE LINK THAT MAY BE BURNED. SOMETIMES THEY ARE HARD TO SEE BECAUSE THEY ARE COVERED WITH RUBBER AND YOU CAN NOT SEE THE DAMAGE HIDDEN BENEATH THE COVER. START THERE.

Car dies after a short time of running. I took it into an autozone and they tested the battery and the alternator. the said the alternator is fine but the battery needs to be replaced. The car started up...

Sounds like the battery. If its not holding power it will cause the car to die. The alternator will charge the battery and keep power to the vehicle, but the battery is also apart of the process.

Replace the battery and check the battery cables for corrosion. At autozone or wherever you go to get a new battery get some terminal grease/protector for your battery. Its like .99 for a packet and will help keep your connections to the battery from corrosion.

Daughter called me ..car wont start. checked battery at Autozone...it is good. someone stopped to help them and bang on startere and it starts up. Bad starter. Starter replaced. Next day daughter...

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.

good luck

Charging system light is on. Have replaced alternator with new one. Alternator is working yet i still have no charge at the battery, i have had it put on a machine. Still dies when i pull the negative...

First off, DON'T pull battery cable when running. That used to be the way to test charging systems years ago, not these days. Hopefully you didn't destroy your new alternator. IF, you have access to a volt meter, with car running put leads in each battery terminal you should have voltage at 13.1v - to 14.8v, Anything less, your alternator is bad. If it tests ok, then someone either missed a lead on back of alternator or one of wires is pinched.

Battery keeps draining

if your battery died while driving and the car cut off while your driving,, your problem is from your alternator!!!,, on a normal working car, you can start, remove ther battery terminals and the car would still run cause the alternator will be powering the car. In your case the alternator isnt working and the car was working on battery power therefore when the battery went dead the car cut off.. Your alternator need \s to be charging between 13.5 and 14.2 volts.. as little as 10 volts will keep the vehicle running.. I'd suggest you have the alternator replaced.

The battery on my 2003 Audi A6 keeps dying. I

Sound's like a bad alternator, you can check the alternator by measuring the voltage on the battery when the car is started, it should measure above 12.6 volt's but not higher than 14.5 volt's, check the drive belt tension, a lose or wore drive-belt could cause problem's with the alternator charging the batery, check the battery terminal's for corrosion, along with the connection's of the battery cable's.
Hope this help's, good luck.
