Diagnostic code for '95 Saturn SL

My son is getting 2 codes (22 & 83) on his diagnostic meter. Acccording to his manual there are no 22 or 83 codes. Can anyone give us the proper code(s)? The car is a dual overhead. I really appreciate any help for him. Thank you very much.

Code 327 and336 on my saturn 1998 sl

clunch ? clutch Are those P codes ? P0327 an P0336
The knock sensor is a piezoelectric device that produces an output voltage based on mechanical engine vibration. The PCM will retard the electronic spark timing on the signal being received. The knock sensor produces an AC signal. The amplitude and signal frequency is dependent upon the knock level. During normal operation, the knock sensor system attempts to filter out all engine noise that is not caused by spark knock. The diagnostic test for DTC P0327 turns OFF all filtering during the first 20 seconds of engine run time. If a sufficient amount of noise is detected during the 20 second test, the diagnostic passes. If no noise is detected, the diagnostic fails. Since DTC P0327 is a type B code, the diagnostic must fail during 2 consecutive ignition cycles to set the DTC.
DTC P0336
The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor defines engine position by generating an electrical pulse each time it passes by a notch of the crankshaft reluctor wheel. The PCM uses crankshaft sensor pulses for fuel delivery and spark timing.

93 Saturn SL2 Does Not Start, MIL Light On

Hi, here are procedures from autozone.com for extracting trouble codes from your Saturn:

See Figure 1
To enter the self-diagnostic mode, either connect a scan tool to the ALDL or DLC. On 1991-95 models, use a jumper wire to connect terminals A and B of the ALDL. Turn the ignition switch ON , then the PCM will enter the diagnostic program and report trouble codes on the scan tool or by flashing the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light.
All codes are 2 digits between 11 and 99. Codes are displayed on the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light by flashing the light with short and long pauses to distinguish digits of one code from digits of another. The short pause is used between digits of the same code, long pauses are between different codes. For example, the Code 12 sequence will be: flash, pause, flash-flash, long pause.
  1. When the diagnostic mode is entered, Code 12 is displayed 3 times. This indicates that the internal diagnostic system is operating. If Code 12 is not displayed, the self-diagnostic program is not functioning properly. If only Code 12 is displayed, no system malfunctions have been stored.
  2. Any existing system fault codes are displayed in order from low to high, except for Code 11. Each code is displayed 3 times, followed by the next code, if any.
  3. On vehicles with an automatic transaxle and on which exist stored transaxle codes, Code 11 will be displayed last, then the SHIFT TO D2 (1991-1992 models) or HOT (1993-98 models) light will begin flashing transaxle codes or flags.
  4. When all engine and transaxle codes have been displayed, Code 12 will flash again. At this point, all output devices are driven, except the fuel pump, so these circuits can be checked.
  5. This procedure can be repeated as required by cycling the ignition switch OFF , then ON again with the ALDL terminals jumpered together. The code display will begin again as in Step 1.

Here are some tests for the MAP sensor:
See Figures 1, 2 and 3
  1. Unplug the MAP sensor connector and turn the ignition switch ON . Check for about 4.5-5 volts between connector terminal C (gray wire) and ground.
  2. Check for the same voltage between terminals C and A (black wire). This is a ground through the PCM.
  3. Reconnect the wiring, then install a Saturn diagnostic probe, or equivalent, on the green wire and connect either a voltmeter probe or a scan tool to the ALDL. Connect a vacuum gauge to the intake manifold.
  4. With the ignition switch ON and the engine not running, the return signal voltage should be close to the supply voltage in Step 1, if below a 1000 ft. (305 meters) altitude. If above this altitude, see the chart for the correct voltage.
  5. With the engine at idle, there should be at least 16 in. Hg (54 kPa) of manifold vacuum and 1-1.5 volts on the signal return wire. When the throttle is opened suddenly, the signal voltage should increase. It may only change momentarily.
  6. If the voltage at idle is the same as in Step 1, or if the voltage does not change when the throttle is moved suddenly, the sensor is faulty and must be replaced.

I have a 95 buick le saber 3.8 ltr. It back fires when running. But when check engine light is on it wont back fire. It does sound louder with check engine light on. Changed coils. I need help trying to...

You need to scan the computer for trouble codes. If the light was on, there must be codes set. On a '95 Buick, it would be OBD-1, On Board Diagnostics-first generation ('96 and later is all OBD-2).
The diagnostic connectors are different for OBD1 and OBD2, but in '94 and '95, GM was on some models using a "hybrid" diagnostic link connector. You will just have to find the right diagnostic connector to get your codes. The guys at autozone or a national parts store who do engine scans for free may help you figure it out. If it is a straight forward OBD 1 connector, a cheap code reader could scan for trouble codes. For the OBD1, you can also use a jumper wire between terminals
A & B of the diagnostic link connector. Turn key to on, and two digit codes will begin to flash on the check engine light. Code 12, for instance, would be a flash, pause, two short flashes, and longer pause before the next code appears. Code 12 by the way, just means that the computer is in diagnostic mode-after that any set codes will appear or be flashed. Code 55 may also be flashed-this code means the end of codes that are set.

What does the wrench light on a 1998 saturn mean also the service engine soon light I have put new injectors new fuel pump pressre reg / filter plugs coils temp switch cat looks good and all fluid levels...

Are you doing diagnostic for the code's or are you just replacing parts ? With each code in a factory service repair manual is an associated diagnostic procedure , testing electrical circuit's for what ever sensor the code is for . Sounds like you should take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop that has the diagnostic equipment an knowledge . Sounds like you have no clue how OBD2 works . Just because you have a code reader does not mean you have the ability to repair OBD 2 vehicles .

Motor Age TST Diagnosing Driveability with Global OBD II
You don't even know what the wrench light is for ! You like making part stores rich ?
The SERVICE (Wrench) telltale is pulled to ground by the powertrain control module (PCM). When the lamp is pulled to ground, current from the ignition circuit flows through the indicator lamp, allowing it to come ON. The PCM will turn the SERVICE (Wrench) telltale ON for all non-emission related DTCs that require that a telltale be turned ON (some DTCs do not turn on a telltale but are stored to aid in diagnosis).
The SERVICE (Wrench) telltale will also be turned ON if the ABS control module has detected a fault in its own warning indicator system. If the ABS system cannot turn on its own telltale, a message will be sent to the PCM through the class 2 data bus (circuit 1807) to turn on the SERVICE (Wrench) telltale.
The SERVICE (Wrench) telltale will be turned ON for 2-3 seconds when the ignition is turned to RUN for a bulb test.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL GIVE YOU MORSE CODE.LIKE TWO FLASHES PAUSE FEW SECONDS THEN FLASH THREE MORE TIMES THAT IS CODE 23 BUT A CODE SCANNER QUICKER BUT JUMPER WIRE CODE TRICK WORK AS GOOD IF YOU DONT HAVE CODE SCANNER. BUT YOU NEED CODE BOOK TO SEE WHAT CODES YOU ARE RECEIVING FROM PCM.
